Alonzo balking at move

Alonso is excited about going back to the same defensive system and the same position.

A source close to Alonso tells The Miami Herald (me) that Alonso doesn’t want to move from the middle linebacker spot in 2017. He enjoys playing middle linebacker the most and believes that’s his spot, the source said.

umm, i say find the best talent you can acquire at both MLB and OLB and let him compete to keep his spot on the roster.

Exactly. I don't understand Armando's point, it's clear he can play both but most observers agree he's best at WLB. Now, if we don't end up signing or drafting a MLB, then why not keep him there? But if we have the option to sign an upgrade at MLB we absolutely have to do it, kick Alonso over to weak side and upgrade at two positions with one move.

I'd prefer to just walk away from Alonso altogether, but if he does remain in Miami he can play where they tell him to play...not an issue. No matter what we do with Alonso, the LB position needs a MAJOR upgrade either way.

Agreed. Alonso has some good instincts, but the whole LB corps pretty much stunk last season IMHO. It may have been the new system, the injuries, but the LB corps had BEEN stinking it up for years before the changes and the injuries.....

I will be greatly surprised if TanneGase takes a LB high in the draft tho. For some reason, they seem to think they can take the LB Chicken Feathers they have and make scrumpdiddlicious chicken salad out of it!
