Landry is traded...

https://www.profootballrumors.com/2017/08/dolphins-willing-to-listen-to-trade-offers-for-wr-jarvis-landry

To the Browns.

And if it happens, remember that you read it here first.

If it does, I'm blaming the Stills re-signing and Tannehill's mind-blowing decision not to have surgery. How can you not?

There were trade rumors last week, but I didn't post them because they weren't from a Dolphins' source and seemed sketchy. But as soon as I heard that the Phins went out of their way to assure everyone that Landry wouldn't be traded, it made me think the exact opposite. It seems like in sports (and the world in general, for that matter), the louder someone denies something the more likely it is to be true. Remember how vehemently Saban denied that he was leaving the Phins to take the Alabama job?

There is a real chance that Landry loses his alpha status this season with Cutler at QB. That makes the prospect of paying him $15 million a year seem kinda stupid. I don't want to lose Landry, but Parker will likely make a lot of money soon and Stills is already making a ton. Can't pay everyone.

If Carroo had shown anything this offseason, Landry would already be gone IMO.

That's literally the exact same thing I was thinking!!! We've been posting together too long Razz Laughing

Trading up for Caroo looks like more of an albatross with each passing day, doesn't it? (Sighs.)

Trading Landry now is our best chance to recoup a quality draft pick for him.

As much as I love to watch the guy play, he is not the prototype alpha #1 WR. I'm talking about guys like Julio Jones, AJ Green, Odell, Evans, Brown, etc. Threats to score from anywhere on the field. Parker has the tools to play that role, if he works hard and continues to develop. It's been an encouraging preseason for him, but we need to see him produce in live action. Cutler will only help him, he loves to push the ball down the field.

Back to Landry, he would be a perfect fit for a guy like Tom Brady. I don't think that's what Gase wants. He wants guys like those I mentioned above, Jeffrey and Thomas played that role in Chicago and Denver for him. Big targets that can get downfield.

I'm all for a Landry trade if it means he doesn't wind up with the Pats. That would be the ultimate worst-case scenario, even more so than the Welker trade.

you're absolutely right. and that is exactly where all this trade rumor talk is coming from.

Belichick is constantly looking for ways to screw with his competition. he knows Landry is not all that content about not having a contract extension - and he also knows Landry is a bit of a prideful, hot-head. what better way to stir the pot than put this rumor out there right after Edelman is lost for the season. please note that from 2014 to 2016, Lombardi worked under for the Pats as an assistant to the coaching staff. this has classical Belichick mind fuck written all over it.
