Suh Already Impressing Teammates
Brian Coyle wrote:It’s obvious what defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh brings to the table in terms of on field production. He’s four-time first-team All Pro and one of the most dominant defensive tackles in the NFL today. But while all that steals the headlines, what may fly under the radar is the way he interacts and conducts himself with his teammates.
Through several interviews with The Finsiders, multiple players have expressed how impressed they are with Miami’s marquee free agent signing of the spring just a few months into Suh’s tenure in aqua.
Linebacker Jelani Jenkins is excited about what Suh brings to the defense because of the kind of attention the All-Pro defensive tackle demands from the offense.
“Just overall, he’s an animal,” said Jenkins. “Besides his athletic ability and just being able to take on double teams and free everybody else up, he’s got swag, he’s a presence. People are going to look out for him and when they’re looking out for him, they’re not looking out for other people. Just his whole demeanor and what it brings to the defense, we’re going to be tough to run against, pass against and we’re going to have a whole attitude to us.
Suh also has been a big help to young players on the defense according to linebacker Chris McCain. The 2nd year pro says Suh’s has been a great veteran mind for younger players to learn from, and that he’s teaching unselfishness.

It sounds like Miami has finally found a leader for Miami

The Dolphins haven't had a player like this since Jason Taylor - a tough, respected veteran superstar that other players can look up to.
Unfortunately, I think Suh is more of a quiet leader...I don't think he's a rally-the-troops type of guy, and that's what this team needs more than anything IMO.

Meh. Hard to take that kind of "leadership" seriously when the guy is getting a DUI or stomping someone on the field. It's a sad state of affairs when SUH has to be the leader of this team. And he does, because we've all seen that nobody else is willing or able to step up and do it.

It's also hard to be a vocal leader on a team whose head coach goes out of his way to dump players that speak their mind.

Yeah, I'm thinking this is Granpa Joe's last season.

Barring a miracle, I think Philbin getting axed after the season is as close to definite as you can get. I think Tannenbaum wants his own head coach so he can continue to build the team his way. As some of us have already said, I think Philbin is just keeping the seat warm for the Mangenius.
Re: Suh Already Impressing Teammates
That miracle would be a healthy Brandon Albert and Evan Mathis.

I really hope not. I want a coach that knows how the NFL works now and not someone that just put a team together and does nothing.

Mangini is an excellent Xs and Os guy, and his players always like him. His biggest issue as a head coach was that he had no personality and didn't deal well with the media. He's come a long way since then, though - he's worked on TV, and he's coached on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. I think he's ready for another head coaching gig, and I think he'll do much better this time.
His personality definitely worries me, but as a gameday coach I think he'd be a million times better than Philbin.

I'm honestly thinking Philbin actually manages to lose to the Jags and is fired before the 10th game with 2 wins or less. You read it here first.

I actually have the same feeling about the Redskins game. What year was it that hopes were high and we opened up with Houston who was supposed to aweful? We lost and I was so ticked.

That was '03, the beginning of the downward spiral of not making the playoffs year after year. After year.
In '07 they opened with the Skins and lost in OT. You know the rest...

This guy is becoming a thorn in Miami fan's side. He doesn't have to killer instinct that Miami needs as a coach.

Well we sort of win either way. Either Philbin learns and has a great season or he flops and we get an actual man to coach the team. As I've said before Tannehill's continued improvement is really all that matters to me.
