WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! Mad

Great for Ajayi. Horrible for the Dolphins.

This has to be one of the worst trades in the history of the franchise - and the Phins have made a shit-ton of bad trades.

I am not the biggest Ajayi fan on the planet, but his salary was minimal and he was the only legit RB on the roster - and he had a great season last year as a first-time starter. How do you only get a 4th for him???

The Dolphins should not be allowed to trade with the Eagles anymore. The Eagles fleece 'em every single time.

It's mind-boggling that Gase blames Ajayi for the offense's problems, when it's clear to everyone else on the planet (and probably even to aliens watching for space) that the REAL problem is the OL.

Let's see how well Cutler plays now that there is absolutely zero threat of a running game. Damien
Williams, Kenyon Drake and Sinorice Perry?? What a joke.

Fuck this team. Might as well just trade Landry for a bag of crap and end the season.

Despite the crappy offense, we're still in the playoff hunt entering week 9. And we trade one of our top - if not THE top - offensive players for a 4th round pick??? And a 4th round pick that will be at the bottom of the round, at that.

Tannenbaum is a fucking disaster.

So just saw that Landry is also up for a trade as well. You get rid of your two best players for little to nothing. Not watching that shit (excuse my french) anymore.

i don't understand this at all. for a 4th round pick, the Phins must've been very motivated to get him off their roster. is this a long festering revenge move leftover from the first week of last season? whose gonna run the ball now?

I'm gonna take a contrarian view.

It's clear Ajayi was doing *something* that Gase was not happy with, and he convinced the front office to move on. Most likely, not blocking the right guy, and not hitting the right hole when he got the ball.

Ajayi had 3 200+ yard games last season. Outside those games, his stats are not exactly mind blowing. This year he is averaging 3.4 YPC.

I agree our offensive line has not played well. But there's no excuse screwing up the pass blocking, and if he's also a malcontent in the locker room, well, it's time to move on.

I think I mentioned this recently, Ajayi can't catch the ball either. He worked all offseason and is still average, at best, as a receiving threat. Both Drake and Williams are superior in this area. This is the type of back that fits our offense best.

Finally, remember the long term knee issue Ajayi is facing. In fact, I'm surprised we got a pick as high as a 4th, considering the current value of NFL running backs in the Marshawn Lynch mold. The knee has already caused him to miss several practices, and it's only a matter of time before the degenerative condition forces him to miss more, and ultimately miss games.

On balance, it appears IMO to be a fair trade, based on several solid factors regarding his future prospects in Miami. I'm fairly certain he will do well in Philly based on the fact they have a great QB, good receiving weapons, and an excellent offensive line. However, that won't change my opinion on this move.

I will say this: Tannenbaum has built a Super Bowl contender for sure. Only problem is...he did it for the Eagles.

Last year we gave them the pick that enabled them to get Wentz, and now we've given them the RB that fills their biggest offensive need.

Tannenbaum is a dumpster fire.

Gase heard that the Seahawks scored 41 despite their RBs gaining just 5 yards on 16 carries, and decided he wanted to follow that model. That's the only sensible explanation for this.

Ajayi has gotten swarmed in the backfield this season more than any RB I've ever seen. I can't think of one RB in the history of the NFL that would produce behind this garbage line. Blaming Jay for the mess that is this offense is just so short-sighted and off-base. The fact that Gase thinks the OL is doing a good job tells you all you need to know.

And Williams gets labeled as a good blocker...how did he look getting trucked multiple times against the Ravens? And how many passes has he dropped this year? At least 2, on hardly any targets. Damien Williams is shit, and Kenyan Drake is worse. We have to pray that somehow Perry is a hidden gem, because those other clowns are nothing.

Bottom line here is that, despite the bad numbers so far, every team we faced has lined the box to stop Ajayi. Now, teams can drop into coverage all day because there is no running threat. Cutler's going to start throwing picks by the bucketful.

If we were 1-6 right now, I might be on board with this trade (although getting a bottom 4th for Ajayi is crap). But for a team that is (miraculously) very much in the wildcard hunt, this is about as bad a move as I can imagine. Total crap.

This is the Fins in a nutshell--the team that decides not to tank at 0-7 but does decide to tank at 4-3. Rolling Eyes

Meh.

Once more news comes out you’ll feel better. Jeff Darlington reporting Dolphins believe Ajayi’s knee is almost done. Plus the reports of Ajayi verbally going after coaches. I’m okay with it.

Reading the recent posts, let me clarify and reinforce my point.

I do not for one second believe that the offense is last in the league because Ajayi is at fault. Not by any stretch.

What I'm saying is this. You have a player that 1. Doesn't fit the offense we want. 2. Has a questionable long term future given the medical evaluation of this knees. 3. Is battling the coaching staff while failing to pickup assigned pass protections.

It's no surprise we are parting ways.

There’s a reason he dropped to the 5th. EVERY doctor in the league was not wrong.

That does it for me. If this team's doctors say Ajayi's knees are shot, that means he'll play ten more years and have a HOF career, helping the Eagles win a Super Bowl or three in the process.

BTW dontcha love how this was done right before a home game that might have been kinda crucial to keep any hope for the season alive? It's like they're begging Raider fans to take over the stadium Sunday.

if his knee is almost done, then what do the Phins do when he fails the Philly physical nullifying the trade? release him outright?

At this point absolutely nothing would surprise me about this team unless it was something positive.

Since the problem is lack of cartilage and not structural it won’t show up on a physical.

I had that thought too, will he pass the physical? Given he has been playing the games, and taking a few practices off, he has a chance to pass...

Oh, I know it's not you white - it's Gase.

Ajayi may not be a perfect fit for the offense, but he sure did something right last year. The Dolphins rode him to the playoffs once Gase finally took his head out of his ass.

Ajayi may have bad knees, but that was the case when he was drafted. He ran for 130 yards just a couple of weeks ago on those "bad knees", and he's been an absolute workhorse for the past season and a half.

Missing protections? Not nearly as bad as Williams in Baltimore - and Williams just earned a promotion. And what about all the OL that miss blocks every single game? Why don't they get punished?

And if Gase can't keep his players in line - that's on him. This is like Philbin all over again...let's just keep dumping talent because the coach can't handle strong-minded players.

Again, if we were out of the playoff hunt, this trade makes so much more sense. But sitting at 4-3 (and very likely 5-3 after Sunday's game...although that's now in doubt without Ajayi) and firmly in the wildcard discussion, I don't see how dumping one of your best weapons makes any sense at all.

SO...do we have to keep pretending Ross didn't know this was going to happen and didn't give his pal Tannanbaum permission to make the trade? And if so, for how long?

And - it's a kick in the balls to the fanbase. Ajayi was one of the only players worth watching on this shitshow. Without him, there's literally no hope of excitement on gameday. Expect an empty stadium on Sunday night.
