Game thought???

Post by rightchea on Mon Nov 06, 2017 9:13 am

Miami losses another one last night but hey it was close not a blowout that the Giants felt against the Rams. With that said, lets talk about the Good and the Bad...

Good:
What can you say that was good, not much but Devante Parker making his presence felt out there. He is one player that can not miss a game anymore if Miami wants to have a chance of making the playoff. Was Ajayi present missed yesterday, Not really Drake did okay and so did Williams (scored a TD). The OL looked okay last night but lets just blame it on the poor field condition. Thomas made his present felt last night. A couple of catches that he made was more surprising then I thought.

The Bad: I will try to keep it short
Where in the Hell was Miami D. Poor field conditions cause a lot of issue for the DL yesterday which effects footwork and power moves. Still not an excuse Miami's DL should be ready for everything especially since that is their field. What happen to home field advantage. DB what DB there was no one covering anyone out their. Tank, McCain, Howard, Jones, Thomas non existent against Cook. I swear if Carr threw it to Cook on every down Miami would have loss worst then what we saw last night. Still nonexistent, Landry was here and there but nothing more, other WR non existent. Cutler is not good enough to be a double threat and that is what Miami needs and needed last night. The play option or QB sweep would have been nice last night and is an element that Miami is missing. The play calling was not the greatest. Raiders can't cover the deep pass but you throw it short all night except for the last two mins of the game horrible play calling.

overall:
This was Miami game to loss and that what happened they lost. Gase need to rethink what he is doing and to be honest he needs to stop calling the plays. Cutler is done and will not be back next year and wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the team is gone thanks to Gase. Landry want to be resigned then he needs to play like he wants to be resigned. Miami finish off the year at 5-11 and Gase blames everyone but himself like always

Parker had a pretty good first half, but then disappeared till the last series of the game.  Have to get him involved more.

The RBs did nothing in the running game except for the big Drake run - excellent blocking on that run, too.  The backs did good in the passing game, but it makes me wonder why we didn't use them in the first 7 games???

Alonso is one of the worst coverage LBs I've ever seen.  Cook absolutely dominated him.

The footing was garbage last night because the field is crap. Apparently Ross didn’t consider that plopping a roof on his stadium would block sunlight and trap moisture (as well as pyrotechnic smoke). The field may never be up to snuff considering South Florida conditions. But you know what, both teams played on the same field and the visiting team seemed better prepared to deal with it.

Apparently Kiko Alonso can’t cover a TE. Hmm, who knew? Well, we knew. The Raiders knew. I guess everybody except Gase and Burke knew. When was the last time the Phins were able to cover a TE?

Wow. Reshad Jones, what happened? Horrible game. Bad angles. Missed coverages. And when he was in place to make a play, he got punked by Johnny Holton (who?). You know, Johnny Holton – the guy with a grand total of 2 receptions this year. So Reshad, what was the deal?

“I shoved, kind of overran it and the guy made a good play on the football,”

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article182970251.html

Umm, you tried to interfere and failed. How about playing the ball? You know, maybe just knock it down.

The Phins couldn’t run with Ajayi (although the Eagles can) and aside from one Drake breakout (yea, the guy who put the ball on the ground too), couldn’t run without him. But they did get a RB contributed TD in the passing game on an fantastic individual effort by Williams (and kudos to Landry for taking it on the chin on that play). So the RB thing is a wash for now, but maybe, just maybe the offensive problems are bigger than just one guy.

7 of 11 Phins’ drives ending in a punt, fumble or downs.

Umm Parkey, please practice extra points. If Suh can kick them, you should be able to as well.

Despite all the failings of the Phins (and there were many), the balance of this game was decided by the fact the Phins pass defense could not stop the Raiders from moving the ball 42 yards in 28 seconds to add another FG before the half. Pathetic.

The offense actually looked better at times last night. Maybe just because my most recent memory was the 40-0 blowout suffered on prime time just last week.

I like the receptions the running backs were making. Williams and Drake seem nearly interchangeable. I've always liked Williams, and that touchdown underscores why - the guy gives 100% and will run through a wall to get into the end zone.

I don't understand what's wrong with this defense. All year, we can't do enough against the opponent passing game. It's great we can play the run much better, but damn the whole point is to get the opponent into 3rd and long then make them punt. We are allowing too many 3rd down conversions. Last year at midseason, we were near the top of the league in getting off the field on 3rd down. Then the injuries hit, so I understand what happened there.

This season, I don't understand it not at all. It needs to be fixed, or we're never going to stop anyone all year and our offense, honestly, just can't keep up in a shootout.

The offense looked better due to the Lazor/Gase method of having your QB throw only short, safe, high percentage passes so that his completion % and QBR skyrocket and make you look like an "offensive genius" and "QB whisperer". Unfortunately, Dolphins fans know better than anyone that while this plan makes everyone feel good and you and your QB can rejoice at completing 16 three-yard passes in a row, the reality is that it doesn't actually lead to, you know...points. For 58 minutes, the new-look offense netted us 16 points. I suppose that's better than the 13 points we had been averaging, but it's not exactly a blueprint for winning.

Yes, the RBs caught passes - because after 7 games, we finally decided to use them. I see teams like the Jets, Eagles and Raiders using 3 RBs every single game...why we were only able to use Ajayi is beyond me, especially when the head coach/playcaller hated him. We should have been using a committee approach from day one, taking advantage of the strengths of each back. But, that may be too "complex" for Gase.

As for the defense, no pass rush + garbage coverage LBs + weak secondary = bad defense.

Eh...the defense looks to be CALLED BAD IMO. They started off playing man, then when there was absolutely no pass rush and Carr was tossing lobs to receivers, they switched to zone, but it was a hideous wide open zone where no Miami defender had ever heard of playing the middle of the field, or crossing routes!!

The defense without a pass rush is just about like that wonderful defense of the late 80s under Olivadotti that kept Marino from getting to another SB....pathetic.

On offense---the run blocking was at times almost non-existent. If the Raider D-line guessed right and took the right gap, the RB got met in the hole or in the backfield. A wrong guess and the RB got a few yards. Pass blocking was okay, but I think Cutler knew he could not stand any big knocks, so he went short when he could to avoid taking any knocks.

The main problem on offense seems to be the erratic and inconsistent execution. Lining up too far back, a hold here, a hold there, a fumble, etc....

The Phins just ain't that good. With no pass rush and no deep passing game, this team is borderline BAD IMO. Not awful bad, but nowhere near being good.

I wonder if Gase can fix it. The Phins seem to be saddled with some dimwit players...or else the coaching staff is flawed? Maybe a mix of both?

The Phins made it FAR too easy for the Raiders to beat them IMO. This does not bode well for the future.

Not enough talent, not enough smarts, bad front office, mediocre coaching.

Offensive line looked better. That's all I will give credit for, oh, and the punter is solid.

Too many penalties on Offense especially all the Holding calls , the one that hurt was the 31 yarder Williams had right after the fumble recovery. Getting no points after the onside kick when Drake fumbled inside the 20 was a big swing in MO we get a Td there it is 13-3 and things would have changed.
