New OL-men on board
with JuWaun James unlikely to play Monday - or be very limited...
with the plan being...

which makes me again wonder why the Phins intentionally spent a 5th round pick on a guy they knew wouldn't be able to contribute even in the most dire injury-related circumstances.

The Dolphins poached tackle Zach Sterup off the Browns’ practice squad, adding the 6-foot-9, 325-pounder as a ninth offensive lineman on their 53-man roster.
Sterup, 25, has not appeared in an NFL game.
with the plan being...
Jesse Davis would seem to be in line to start at right tackle, assuming Ted Larsen makes his 2017 debut at left guard.

Even with guard a need position all year, the Dolphins haven’t seen enough from 24-year-old rookie Isaac Asiata to give him a single snap.
“Clyde Christensen said it’s a redshirt year for me and there’s nothing wrong with a redshirt year,” he said. “I’ve got to improve in all areas.”

Listen, the Browns are the doormat of the league. In a position of need we look to the BROWNS PRACTICE SQUad?????? we sign a guy from the worst team in the league who cant even crack the 53 man roster? No wonder we can’t pass protect or run block

It's just a mess.
Davis has been arguably our best lineman since he got the starting LG job (not that that's saying much), and now you're going to move him to RT just so you can plug in Larsen - who has yet to play a down this season and has earned nothing. Meanwhile, we're paying Sam Young over a million $ this year to be the backup tackle, but he stays on the bench when James gets injured. It's a clusterfuck...no wonder this line plays with no continuity at all.

I thought Brendell looked pretty good (Compared to what) when he filled in for pouncey. I'd like to give him a shot at one of the G spots UNTIL the next pouncey absence.

Yeah, he did look pretty good, and Pouncey is playing like crap. If Miami starts falling behind in the AFC - which seems like it'll happen sooner than later - I'd love to see the coaches start Brendel over Pouncey so we can find out if we have our future starting center in place.
What I'd like to see IMMEDIATELY is Bushrod get benched. I have no idea what the coaches see in him. He SUCKS.

On my next run at a mock draft i am taking the best player available. Lord knows we could use all the help we can get.

To be honest, we have no idea whether or not Larsen is good or not. We're talking about a staff that took and entire preseason plus 4 regular season weeks to jettison two of the worst offensive linemen in football. I'm not a huge believer in their instincts when it comes to player ability, good or bad.

Re: New OL-men on board
Larsen has been a mediocre player throughout his career, and he hasn't played since last year - so if anyone thinks he's going to be some sort of savior for the OL I think they're headed for disappointment.
Re: New OL-men on board
This is true, but my point was merely that he might be better than what we have, because last year they thought Dallas Thomas was a starting-caliber guard.

Larsen may be better, but while a shiny turd may look nicer that your garden variety turd, it's still crap. The Phins keep scraping the bottom of the barrel for guards, so it is what it is. Of course, Gase thinks the OL is fine, so there's that.

There we go, my point exactly.
Our line and all of its backups are crap, and the coaches can't identify talent.
