Game thread - Phins at Panthers

Post by JMP on Mon Nov 13, 2017 8:45 pm

Both teams have had one drive so far. Each team got a first down, and then screwed up on 3rd: Cutler should have run for a first but instead threw a horrible incompletion, and the Panthers dropped a pass on 3rd and short. Sloppy start for both.

Surprise, surprise: a run on 3rd and 14 for minimal gain. The Phins are now 0 for 27 on 3rd and 11+. Only team in the league that hasn't converted in that situation.

Man, we are getting lucky - Shephard with 2 drops. He was wide open for a huge gain on the last play.

McDonald with a red zone INT!!! But the replay showed that the ball clearly hit the ground...if Carolina challenges, the call will be overturned for sure. Damn. Mad

How come every announcer in the world keeps asking “why doesn’t Miami throw the downfield?’

Helluva throw by Cutler on 3rd down - threw a dart to Stills while under pressure. If he could do that more often, we may have a chance!

And the next throw is a short pass in the dirt. Of course.

And then a nice throw to Parker for a 1st, followed by another short pass on the ground!  Can you say inconsistent???  LOL

So far the O-line completely sucks. I think a bunch of the balls have been tipped at the line. I would have called hold on the RT. There won’t be much of a run game if the defender is in the same location as the ball carrier and the qb.

Alonso sucks. Should have had McCaffery stopped on the TD, and just gets faked out his jock. Terrible.

Where's the defense? 80+ yard TD drive, almost 7 minutes. Unacceptable.

That was an impressive stat, have only led 11 percent of the time, 1 percent higher than the Browns.

GURU I tell ya.

TD!!! Shovel pass to Julius Thomas. Nice call. Very impressive drive by Miami. Great receiving by Williams on that drive.

The guru part is that it doesn’t matter what running back is back there. We don’t have a running game.

We should just stop running the ball. Pass every down.

Gase's Golden Boys strike again! Hideous INT by Cutler with a 15-yard penalty on Thomas. And, of course, the Panthers score a TD and go up by 10 at the half. So glad we're paying Cutler and Thomas $16 million this year. No

41 seconds left, let's let the worst offense in the NFL try to hurry up and score when they haven't been able to all year. Brilliant, I tell ya.

Seriously! What did Gase think he was going to accomplish in 40 seconds? I'm all for being aggressive, but being smart is better.

That terrible play call just deflated the team, and probably was the decisive turning point. We simply cannot win a game unless we can keep it low scoring with this offense.

Oh, and we traded the one breakaway threat we have of any kind for a fourth round pick. Cutting a couple of shitty O-linemen a month into the season started the run last year. Getting rid of a producer when we were a misleading 4-3 is apparently going to have the opposite effect this year. Go figure.

Yep - Gruden just said the Phins are showing "bad body language" on the sideline - as the Panthers march down the field with ease. I think the Phins just expect bad things to happen at this point...that's not good, at all.
