Vontae Davis finding his way back to Miami?????

Just saw the article that Miami is hosting Davis this weekend. interesting that he will be hosted by the same team that sent him packing

According to a league source, the Dolphins are hosting Vontae Davis on a free-agent visit this weekend. Davis, a cornerback who spent his first three seasons in Miami as the Dolphins’ 2009 first-round pick, was released by the Indianapolis Colts this month.

Players released by NFL teams don’t have to wait for the start of free agency, which is March 14 at 4 p.m. They can sign with an NFL team at any point, and that allows them to get ahead of the market.

Davis has already visited the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders.

In 120 career games spanning nine seasons with the Colts and Dolphins, Davis, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, has started 112 games and contributed 395 tackles, 22 interceptions and 106 passes deflections.

Unless he comes cheap, not a position I would expect us to spend a lot of money on...

Seems like a strange visit. Davis is still a starting-caliber corner assuming he is healthy, and he should be able to get a starting job pretty easily. No chance he's signing with Miami to take a back-up job.

Typical 21st Century Dolphins.  Make a good pick for a change, get rid of him for next to nothing after yet another half-measure coaching change results in a queasy coach who isn't comfortable with him, watch him flourish elsewhere, then become interested in him again after the regime changes again and he has little in the tank.

Was terrific in Indy from 2013-2015, though.

Davis signed with the Bills. Good move for them. Davis should be the #2, and will help give the Bills one of the best secondaries in football - with White and Davis at CB and Poyer and Hyde at S. Damn.

We will see. Davis was great for 3 seasons in Indy, but he was lousy in 2016 and last year even before the injury. We certainly traded him at the wrong time, that's for sure, but he's a reclamation project now. Sometimes they work (Grimes) but more often, not.

I think Davis as a #2, surrounded by very good secondary players and benefiting from a strong pass rush, could find new life in Buffalo. They also love corners that tackle, and Davis certainly fits the bill there. I think it's a very good fit.
