Coming in for a visit.

This would be a great signing.

It's no accident he's 35 years old and has averaged 1000 yards over his last 5 seasons.  And stayed healthy.  He works his ass off in the offseason training.

Great role model for the young backs on this team.  Should be cheap.  Do it.

I'd pass. Do we really need a 35 year old back up RB that can't play special teams, doesn't score a lot of TDs and has seen his yards per carry drop to under 4 the past 3 seasons? If we were a backup RB away from being a contender, I'd be all for it - but that isn't the case.

Gore is probably one of my favorite players ever...love the guy. But in 2018 I don't see any reason to sign him. This draft is loaded with high quality backs - that's where I'd look.

That's exactly where I'm at. I love the guy. The team can use a leader like him in the room.

My depth chart would be Drake - Gore - Rookie RB.

I'd prefer to draft a RB and let him compete with Drake for carries. In recent years, rookie RBs have shown the ability to dominate right out of the gate. I don't think we need a 35 year old back to get in the way of developing Drake and a rookie.

He's a future Hall of Famer, since the 4 guys ahead of him and the 6 guys immediately behind him on the all time rushing list are in the Hall. And time has proven that he should have been the back we drafted in 2005. But....this ain't 2005 anymore. Pass. Find the next 3rd round value with 12 years in front of him instead of behind him.

Pass. If they wanted a veteran, they shouldn’t have let Murray out of town

Updated the thread title...Gore is a Phin.

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article206424939.html

Welcome home, Frank Gore.

...

The Dolphins are signing Gore to a one-year contract, bringing back one of Miami’s best homegrown stars back to Dade County.

Gore had hopes to finish his career where it began some two decades ago, and this contract should allow it to happen.

...

People close to him say he wanted to finish his career in Miami. On Thursday, that dream became a reality.

Gore provides steady veteran leadership to a decidedly young running backs room. He is expected to share time with Kenyan Drake, who emerged as a dangerous threat after the Dolphins traded Jay Ajayi. The Dolphins still could consider taking a running back in Day 3 of the draft, but the signing of Gore removes another need from Miami’s list.

Again - love Gore, but this signing does nothing for me.

The "every single open position MUST be filled in free agency before the draft" strategy is really getting annoying, especially when we constantly add declining players over 30. It's just not a smart way to build a team. Constant roster churning...it just never ends.

Move out Cleveland because the Miami Dolphins are moving to the NFL basement.

this isn't that bad of a pick as long as Frank Gore is willing to teach Drake the ropes at the same time miami still might pick up a RB in the draft

this signing only makes sense if the Phins are firmly committed to Drake as the starter and if Gore is simply there to give him an occasional breather and perhaps serve as a mentor. and if the Phins still intend to draft a big bruiser power back for short yardage.

that's a lot "ifs" especially considering Drake has never been the "carry the load" back.

I'm fine with this signing. Supposedly, he is the ultimate team guy and leader. From his stats the last few years, he still is productive. I think he can contribute in a reserve role. Maybe, 8-12 carries a game. I still want a developmental guy in the draft. Would love to take a flyer on Mark Walton in the 4th or 5th.

I just don't get having an old, declining RB on the team for a year to get a few touches a game. What's the point? Gore hasn't even been on a winning team since 2013, so I'm not sure what his "leadership" even means. I'd much rather draft a guy that can be an impact player on this offense for years to come, giving him meaningful carries as a rookie and not just using him to keep the bench warm.

neither do I. We are forever doing one of two things:

1) Signing guys five years after it would be viable to do so
2) Cutting young, cheap talent to flourish elsewhere when they get better coaching.

Hasn't changed in a decade and a half, isn't going to anytime soon.

It's a nice gesture and all, and I hope he is very productive, but after this move, they still need a running back.

Gore is Arian Foster but without the SJW garbage (hopefully). I'll be shocked if he makes it through half the season without retiring.
