I understand that gets him the opportunity. The opportunity is finite. He has a track record to defend now, and that conversation should not go well.
I only just became aware of the existence this Higgins person today, and I already think he's actually a HUGE part of the problem who needs to be gotten rid of himself.
Also, I keep reading that Grier is safe, which would completely defeat the whole point of firing the other two members of the Terrible Trio.
Whatever happens, it's a certainty that Ross will screw it up. That's really all we need to know.

I was thinking the same thing. This is embarrassing losing to the Jags that have been horrible for the last couple of weeks. What Gase excuse gonna be "They were hot when they came to Miami"

Re: Major changes could be coming to the Dolphins
This dumpster fire today, to a team that quit around Halloween, absolutely has to be the end of The Gase Error.
Has to be.
I don't care if they rally to 8-8 next week to a bad Buffalo team.
If you're an owner who turns 79 before next season starts, and you want this team to ever be relevant again in your lifetime, you have to get rid of this bunch now.

Re: Major changes could be coming to the Dolphins
No way is this team beating the Bills. It'll be the first 7-9 record in six years, at least. I guess that's something different, right?
I'm past the point of being upset TBH. I'm more angry about the Pats getting a bye and thus rendering the Miami Miracle completely pointless, even a cruel mockery.
Oh well, I'm planning on enjoying the rest of this week and not even thinking about this bunch of bumblers, busts and bums. The team that is, not you guys

Word in NY is that the Jets are going to go all-in to get Jim Harbaugh.
Worst possible scenario: Jets get Harbaugh and Dolphins stick with Gase.

Harbaugh has said he’s not leaving Michigan until Ohio carries him off the field after another Ohio 40 point win.

Re: Major changes could be coming to the Dolphins
On the QB question, I think it is simple:
Sign Bridgewater this time. We should have done it last year if we weren't going to draft a QB. Now we can sign him, and draft someone to develop as a backup plan in case he doesn't pan out. Bridgewater will be 26 at the start of next season, he's healthy, he's already taken a team to the playoffs and he played his HS football in Miami.
Since the draft isn't nearly as good this year as it was last year, it seems like a no-brainer to take the best young soon to be FA available.
Gase's failure to address the position in any meaningful way this past off-season is likely the final straw. I don't think wasting $10 million on Cutler last year helped his standing either. I really think Gase is a goner, and hopefully Tannenbaum too.

Ross must have that new disease that I keep hearing about......relapsing/remitting Monday Dementia. He must be forgetting what’s happening every Sunday when it’s Monday. I think it’s the only reason I can think of as to why these fucktards are still allowed in the parking lot.!!!!!!!!!

As a Dolphin fan, that's a good thing...I wish I had that ability.
But yeah, I don't know how Ross could possibly think that keeping Gase is a smart move. Every Sunday, win or lose, he proves that he's in over his head and he's not a head coach. It's not difficult to see.

Found this little tidbit this morning.....
https://larrybrownsports.com/football/dolphins-may-fire-adam-gase/478606
Sounds like Ross might make a move away from Gase and Tannenbaum
Also saw this as well.....

This is what hurt the coaching staff the most, too many excuses for poor performance. If you are the leader for a team then you don't make excuses
Grey Papke wrote:One of the most coveted coaching candidates at the time of his hiring, Adam Gase may be about to land in the unemployment line.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Miami Dolphins head coach is in serious danger of losing his job. Owner Stephen Ross is dissatisfied with his team’s performance, and there is apparently some tension among the team’s decision-makers. While no final decisions have been made, Gase is apparently far from secure in his position.

In 2016, Gase’s first season, the excuse was that the players needed time to learn and adapt to the up-tempo offense Gase was installing. And not all the pieces fit perfectly.
The Dolphins, who won 10 games and qualified for the playoffs for the first time in a decade that season, needed an offseason to find the right players to make that 30th-ranked offense click.
In 2017, the Dolphins didn’t have the team’s starting quarterback. Tannehill’s knee injury forced him to miss the entire season, and the Dolphins spent $10 million to talk Jay Cutler out of retirement because he knew Gase’s offense.

Two somewhat different opinions on the situation.
I say blow it all up. Tannenbaum, gase and grier, adios mofos.
And being a Marino guy, I kinda think he likes gase,at least that is what I have heard. I think if Marino gets the job, gase is back. And, gase has final say on the roster, another great move by ross. Who gives a first time HC FINAL say on roster decisions? steven ross, that's who.
My guess is that if the Fins win and end up at 8-8, gase comes back. If they shit the bed and have another embarrassing "effort", and get blown out, ross lets gase go.
Knowing ross, he may just let tannenbaum go and then promote chris grier to replace him and make gase HC/GM. Perfect.

Re: Major changes could be coming to the Dolphins
Yeah. With Gase defacto GM this is very complicated.
Ross and Tannenbaum got owned by Gase’s agent. They wanted him so bad they gave him everything he demanded. Now we are fucked and probably the best course of action would be to fire Gase and Tannenbaum.
You can let Grier remain and let the new VP decide if he is worth keeping. With Gase power in mind, it would take some digging to find out who is behind all the poor draft picks and free agent signings.

Re: Major changes could be coming to the Dolphins
Who would want to join this FO as a VP of Football Operations or real GM if he can not chose his own coach AND not have final say on roster? I'll tell you who, the Dennis Hickeys of the world. In other words, no one worth his salt. So, if ross wants REAL change he MUST fire gase along with tannenbaum.

Also read two rumored candidates are Paton who is assistant GM in Minnesota, and the assistant GM in Buffalo.
Either candidate would need to have roster control otherwise the incumbent team can block the hire.
By the way, Paton works for Spielman, our former GM from about 15 years ago. Yeah, that’s a pretty stark reminder of how far we’ve fallen since Jimmy retired.

He also worked for this team the previous decade, so he's already been part of the problem.
BTW I'm openly rooting for a Bills blowout win, and so should anyone interested in the long-term good of this team. Any other result and this team is more fucked than a porn star. So sick of utterly meaningless late season wins that do nothing but convince Ross to not change.
