Need a franchise QB

Post by CarsonChris on Mon Dec 31, 2018 8:41 pm

We all know our number one need. Until we have a franchise QB we will be on an endless coaching carousel.

Drew Lock will likely go in top 3. Who else in this draft is worth a look?

Haskins and Grier or Jones from Duke who looks like Peyton Lite and Was Coach by Cutcliffe , Which means he has Learned an NFL Offense already.

I saw Drew Lock in person tonight. He's not a franchise QB. He's a bigger Tannehill at best.

This year's QB stable is crap. Best to get a bridge QB like Flacco. I'm just terrified we'll go with Bortles. This isn't to say we shouldn't try to get a QB, but I don't think we should reach. There are far too many positions that need addressing first, like the OFFENSIVE LINE (echo, echo, echo). Christ, I've been beating that drum as well as the Free Safety drum for 10 years. I thought we addressed the later. Perhaps a new coach will actually play Fitz where he's supposed to play.

Agree. To a sane person, safety is easy. Keep either McDonald or Jones that’s your strong safety, play Minkah at free safety. Now go get corner help.

I’d guess Jones is gone he’s old expensive and redundant.

I'd sign Bridgewater over Flacco.  I'll take the 26 year old who has upside over the 34 year old nearing the end.

I'd also draft a QB to compete with him in TC, maybe keep Falk since the price is right, and plan on drafting a QB every year until we get it right.

No cap savings on cutting Jones, he costs $11 million even if he's gone, so McDonald might be the guy on the chopping block.

Draft is unimpressive this year, though I think Rypien is a sleeper who is worth the mid round pick it will take to get him.

Nothing against Baker but I sure wish we had taken Mason Rudolph last year when we had the chance. No, he hasn't made it on the field yet, but I think he'd be ideal competition and better than any of the QB's coming out this year.

Easton Stick (North Dakota State) is another sleeper QB to keep an eye on...probably a mid-round pick at this stage.

As far as vets, I doubt the Saints will let Bridgewater go but he'd be my top choice if available. He fits the bill as a younger player - which is supposedly what the Phins want now. Beyond that, Nick Foles seems like the best option and the Eagles will almost certainly not exercise his 2019 option ($20 million). But we'll see...Grier could just as easily give David Fales a shot for one year.
