Initial thoughts on Dan Campbell Empty Initial thoughts on Dan Campbell

After watching Campbell's press conference, I definitely came away with a positive impression.

Campbell has the right attitude and personality for this job, and his focus on hard work, competition and accountability is very much needed on this team.

I like the fact that he didn't mince words and admitted that the Dolphin practices under Philbin were not intense and players weren't properly prepared for gameday. We all knew that already, but it's refreshing to hear Campbell admit it instead of handing us a line of coachspeak crap.

Campbell looks the part, and I think he has the potential to be a real good head coach one day.

And that's the key - one day. I'm not sure that time is now. The biggest hurdle Campbell will face this season is his coordinators. Campbell has never been in this position before, and in order for him to be successful he will absolutely need strong coordinators to run the O and D. Unfortunately, Lazor and Coyle suck, and if they are retained they will destroy Campbell's chances of earning a permanent head coaching job in Miami. Campbell will do his best to change the culture of this team, and I think he can do it - but he'll need help with the Xs and Os, and right now he doesn't have that help.

I think Campbell MUST fire the two coordinators. Even if he promotes from within, I think it will be a plus. But if he keeps these two clowns, I think he's doomed to fail.

I read that Sean Payton & Jason Garrett both think he will do Great, He is supposed to make a decision on Coyle today. I'm thinking he will only fire Coyle because Dufner has been a DC before, We have No One other Than JMP to replace Lazor. Rolling Eyes

LOL I'm not an Xs and Os guy, but I'll give it a shot. Hell, I'm pretty sure I can at least field the worst offense in football just as good as Lazor can!

Ken O'Keefe (current WR coach) has been an OC almost as long as Lazor's been alive. I'd give him the job.
