Josh "Program Killer" Pastner is gone gone GONE, baby!!!

The entire city of Memphis is throwing a mass party right now that could last a week. From the standpoint of a Memphis college hoops fan, this is the equivalent of Ross selling the Fins. Seriously. And the best part is, if Memphis had fired him they'd have had to pay Pastner over $10 million thanks to one of the most absurd contracts in the history of sports. But since HE left to take another job, he pays THEM 500 grand and all they have to do is pay the difference between his new salary and the old one, which is only about $4 mil. It's literally the best thing that's happened to Memphis in years. I'm not talking about the men's hoops team, I'm talking about the city and surrounding metro area.

I guess good things still can happen even in today's world. Who knew???

The local media actually did an investigative report on it. Basically all they found out is that nobody is actually claiming responsibility for the thing and that it was done under the administration of a school president who's no longer there. Made the current AD look bad though for signing off on it. Basically, NOBODY 'round these here parts can understand why Pastner got a contract through 2020 that entitled him to payments of $2.6 mil a year or so if he was ever fired. It's been a real source of outrage, I kid you not. The former president and AD BTW were a pair of complete goofs.

The ONLY way the school could get out of paying him the full amount is if Pastner was hired away, and up until yesterday that was seen as a pure fantasy. Well, for once the fantasy came true And NOBODY saw it coming. But apparently behind the scenes the current president and AD were looking for a way out this whole time.
