R.I.P. Lemmy
So sad to hear of Lemmy's passing. As someone said to me, you knew it was coming - you just never thought it would happen. "Legend" doesn't begin to scratch the surface of what this great man meant to so many people. I'm completely gutted.
For Lemmy:
CAPRICORN
A thousand nights, I've spent alone,
Solitaire, to the bone,
But I don't mind, I'm my own best friend,
From the beginning, to the end,
My life, my heart, black night, dark star, Capricorn
December's child, the only one,
What I do, is what I've done,
I realise, I get so cold,
When I was young I was already old,
My life, my heart, black night, dark star, Capricorn
I always knew, the only way,
Is never live, beyond today,
They proved me right,
They proved me wrong,
But they could never last this long,
My life, my heart, black night, dark star, Capricorn

Never thought Lemmy would be taken by the Reaper. Always thought Lemmy would hitch a ride with the Reaper and make the Reaper drop him off where he wanted.
A great hidden gem from the band, one of many:

A metal icon, beloved by many, and a hero to many more.
He was a great guy, and although you could see it coming, it wasn't any easier to swallow. I'll raise a drink to him tonight.

Basically been going through the entire Motorhead catalog on my commutes this week in tribute. Some of these records I haven't heard in a while; amazing consistency. Outside of March or Die there really isn't even a mediocre effort.
Motorhead top 10's, anyone? This might well change if you ask me a month or even a week from now, but I'll do it anyway.
"The Chase is Better Than the Catch"
"Dead Men Tell No Tales"
"Back at the Funny Farm"
"Deaf Forever"
"Crazy Like a Fox"
"Smiling Like a Killer"
"Take the Blame"
"Please Don't Touch" (w/Girlschool)
"Burner"
"Love Me Like a Reptile"

Wow, top 10 Motorhead songs...that's a tough call! How about top 12, in no particular order:
Overkill
The Chase is Better Than the Catch
Stone Dead Forever
Ace of Spades
Iron Fist
Fast & Loose
Capricorn
Go To Hell
One Track Mind
Mean Machine
Rock & Roll
No Class
I like pretty much everything they ever released, but IMO their post-1987 output is inferior to the earlier stuff.

Gave Aftershock (2013) and Bad Magic (2015) a spin back-to-back last night. Aftershock is the better record, slightly better lyrics and Lemmy still sounding like his old self. I think it could stand solidly alongside most of their records; really impressive for a 21st studio album.
Bad Magic is still a perfectly good listen, but Lemmy sounds a little frail and old at times, something that never happened before. I'd still take it over March or Die.
Incidentally, how many bands produce their two highest charting albums in their 38th and 40th years of existence? Aftershock made it to # 22 in Billboard; Bad Magic, # 35. Motorizer (2008, # 82) was the only other Motorhead record to make the top 100 in the U.S.! Not a good reflection on our nation when Lemmy never cracks the top 20.
