Re: James Laurinaitis cut
He wasn't the only one the Rams cut.

Gotta love a team that knows when it's time to move on and gets to it, as opposed to a team like the Fins, who decide instead to give extensions to aging players coming off injury and re-sign their impending FAs even when they can't afford to.
TWO Buckeye fans here?!?! Well that's it then, I'll have to leave this place now One was bad enough

Re: James Laurinaitis cut
James Laurinaitis is a tackling machine. Stick him in the middle of the defense, and the position is solidified for the Phins. Draft Jack at 8 and sign Laurinaitis in free agency...and LB becomes a strength instead of a joke.
I always prefer to build through the draft, but we have way too many holes and Laurinaitis is too solid to pass up. I'd make him a priority.

My money says he's a Patriot but we shall see.

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me at all. Laurinaitis is the type of player Belichick loves.
Re: James Laurinaitis cut
Omar is banging the table for Scooby in the second round but I'm thinking he's Offerdahl 2.0 with respect to injuries.

Especially after Mayo just retired.

I'd love to bring in a veteran to fill that void. Misi is a mess wherever he is. No instincts for the position. Scooby in round 2, sign me up. I'd take that. Knee injuries happen. I have a meniscus tear. Did it water skiing. Things happen, it's not that big of a deal. What about two rookies at LB? They would grow together and be formidable in the future. Give Laurinaitis a 3 year deal while the rookies, especially MLB learn the position.

This article says Scooby is the next Zach Thomas.

Re: James Laurinaitis cut
I hate that every white MLB has to be "the next Zach Thomas". I like Scooby as a prospect, but other than being white how is he like Zach at all? Zach was smaller, and had better instincts, was a better tackler and was better in coverage. I really don't see any comparison besides skin color.
That said, if his health checks out I'd draft Scooby without hesitation.
And I have no problem with two rookie LBs starting.

With the talent that will be on the board early in round two there is no way I draft Scooby Wright. If he is there in round 3 I'd consider it.

Yeah, third round is where I would take him. Where we pick in the second we should be able to grab first-round talent.
Re: James Laurinaitis cut
depending on the cobine he might go higher than the 3rd round. I say he goes low 1st to mid 2nd round.

So many prospects this draft in our areas of need. We can most certainly get a quality pass rusher and a LB IN THIS DRAFT BUT WE NEED TO GET MORE PICKS

More INTs than any other LB in Fins history and the all-time Fins leader in pick sixes. There will literally never be another like him. (Sniffs.)
