Who's Byron Maxwell you ask? Apparently, a huge free agent bust. He was released by Seattle after four years with the team, Philly paid him a huge deal - which apparently we will assume if the trade goes through.

5 years, $63 million dollars left on his deal, of which $18.5 million is guaranteed.

PFF rated him the 75th of all CBs in the league last year.

He's actually pretty good in zone coverage but the only way I approve of this trade is if it's for Brent Grimes and we get a draft pick. He's 6'1" and 207 lbs. Could Joseph view him as a free safety?

Free agent bust with Philly, and we'd have to pick up his huge contract (at least for one season...seems like there's an easy out in 2017).  Hell no.  We can get someone better at a fraction of the cost, either in the draft or free agency.

supposedly Kiko Alonso is involved as well...

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that linebacker Kiko Alonso would also be involved in a deal that would bring draft pick compensation back to Philadelphia.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/03/07/report-kiko-alonso-could-head-to-miami-with-byron-maxwell/

more Tannenbaum trading away the future for an attempted win-now approach.

Ugh.  Alsonso had a fantastic rookie season with the Bills, then missed an entire season with injury in 2014 and sucked last year as a backup with the Eagles.  No.

Why do we want to trade for another team's trash..we've got more than enough of our own.

Sounds like Alonso and Maxwell to Miami is a done deal pending physicals.  Phins also may be talking with Maxwell about his contract.

Dying to know what the compensation is.  Tannebaum loves trading away picks, so I'm expecting the worst.

The Phins collect injured players like kids (used to) collect baseball cards.  Alonso is a good addition to that collection.  No

Rumor: we give up 5th or 6th round pick PLUS swap 1st rounders, dropping us to #13 overall.

Dumb, dumb move. There are approx 9 players that can be considered "elite", we would put ourselves solidly out of that group.

Like Omar said - we're finally in position to draft an elite player, and we want to trade down.  Brilliant.  scratch

If you are trading down get someone better for it. I don't see this as a better outcome for Miami.

Omar is on point today:

Omar Kelly ‎@OmarKelly
For the record, I don't have a problem with the Dolphins giving Adam Gase an entirely new team. BUT make sure the talent is better not worse

I'm actually OK taking a step backward talent-wise in 2016 IF it means we're drafting well and acquiring young players that can take us to the next level in the future.

But with this trade, we're missing out on an opportunity to draft an elite player AND we're getting two players that may only be in Miami for one season...one is always hurt, and the other is mediocre.  This is not the way to build a sustainable winning team.

Even with the question marks behind both players we were getting, I was prepared to part with a 5th rounder or worse.

Trade down in the first? Total blunder. Horrible move.

Nice to see Tannenbaum not wasting any time ruining this team even further a month and a half before the draft Laughing

They couldn't just cut Grimes??? Seriously???

I have to agree. Grimes was getting worst but then they go after these idiots.

At this rate by the time the draft actually gets here, the Fins will not only have zero picks, they actually owe multiple future picks to various teams.

George Allen would be so proud.

You could see it coming.

Tannenbaum has full control now and will make some moves that make Phin phans want to puke IMHO!

When it comes to the draft Omar is a fool. I'll take Eli Apple at 13 over Hargreaves, who is our consensus pick at 8. That being said, if trading down I would have preferred getting picks instead of giving them. Also THESE ARE RUMORS.

Apple over Hargreaves? Not me - no way.

And yes, they are rumors...but I've come to expect the worst from Miami. Sad

I hope like Hell the number 8 pick isn't part of this. Pure foolishness if it is.

Newest rumor is we indeed did swap first round picks but we RECIEVE a 4th round pick. If we get Zeke at 13 I'm going to be so happy you'll all hate me.

Strange that none of the Miami or Philadelphia media have leaked anything about the trade compensation...guess we won't know the truth till tomorrow.

I could see Elliott being BPA at 13.  I'm not as big a fan of him as you are, but I'd be OK with the pick.

I'm now hearing that we swapped first rounders and are giving a 4th to the Eagles.  This is getting absurd...the rumors change every half hour.  Can't wait to hear the truth!

Which example of hate is more bizarre, DeAngelo's of Peyton or Tannenbaum's of the draft? By the time it rolls around he'll have signed 8-9 new starters on D.
