SO HAPPY FOR JMP!!!

FINALLY HIS ALMA MATER GETS TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT AFTER FAILING OVER AND OVER!!! I WAS ROOTING LIKE HELL FOR THEM AS MUCH AS HE WAS AND IT'S THE BEST EARLY BIRTHDAY PRESENT I COULD HAVE HAD!!! FROM 15 DOWN IN THE SECOND HALF TO VICTORY, BABY!!! AND ALL BECAUSE I STOPPED WATCHING IN DISGUST!!! MY MIND IS MORE BLOWN THAN A TOURIST IN VEGAS ON A SATURDAY NIGHT!!!

I admit that I gave up...but I am all sorts of excited that Stony Brook is in the tournament. Fuckin' Seawolves!!!!!!

Haha, it's one thing for me to walk away in disgust, I was just rooting for them because of you. But for an alum to do it instead of sticking it out...for shame, Jmp!!!

BTW if freaking MEMPHIS actually gets into the NCAA Tournament on my birthday after the crappy season they had, I think it would move to the top of my personal list of best gifts ever, and I've had some doozies.

They can't lose on my birthday. Can they???

And hell yeah, I am rooting for Memphis too. Being a Dolphin fan, we all deserve whatever we can get from our other sports teams! LOL

You saw it here first--if Memphis wins they will face Kentucky in the first round. The REAL first round, not that play-in nonsense. Likely a 3 VS 14 seed game.

I think this is going to be an amazing tournament. Pretty stoked.

Unfortunately, Memphis is out.  So, Stony Brook faces Kentucky on Thursday...

A 14 seed has beat a 3 seed in the past 3 years. Besides the past 2 seasons, the 13 seed had at least one winner for 6 straight seasons.

(Looks at bracket again. Sees that the other 4 seeds are Duke, Cal and Iowa St.)

P.S. I know next to nothing about college basketball. Just like to watch the games. And as a friend of mine pointed out, almost anything that is scored becomes fun - thus the allure of the bracket challenge. My ten minutes with a few Washington Post articles encompasses the whole of my "research".

I stopped two years ago for the same reason. Got tired of being angry at teams I didn't care about otherwise for "ruining" my bracket by having the unmitigated gall to upset teams I picked but couldn't stand yet rooted for to preserve my bracket.

Also, because I completely sucked at it. I must hold the record for most teams picked to reach the Final Four who lost in the opening weekend.

Now I can relax and just enjoy what happens as it happens. Or not. This First Four has been an absolute turdburger so far.

Thank God Tulsa lost. They were the worst, most undeserving at large bid I've seen in 26 years of watching this thing, and a win would've only encouraged more of the same insanity in the future.

True story: the head of the selection committee is the OU AD who gave the Tulsa AD his first college athletics job while at Mizzou. But hey, let's pretend personal connections don't matter when it comes to stuff like this

At the half...Stny Brk (no "O" at all) is playing decent on defense...but they can't do a damn thing with the ball.  Down by 14, but might as well be down by 50.

I just turned the game off with the score 60-30. I am proud of the Seawolves...they're still playing hard despite the score (Pureifoy just had a beautiful block), but they literally aren't on the same planet as Kentucky. Oh well...it was a good run.

Good God almighty that game was hard to watch If there hadn't been three other games on I wouldn't have known what to do. Things went exactly as I feared, a team simply cannot hope to win when one guy scores and the rest of the team can't throw it in the ocean from a pier. Just like the first 25 minutes of the Vermont game, only this time against a far better opponent and for the entire time. I have no idea how SB will average even 50 a game next season with Warney gone, I really don't. That offense next season is more screwed than a porn star. I think Puriefoy's gone too

The sad part is, Duke was very beatable and so are the other two 4 seeds.

I didn't watch the end either, because I was too riveted by the Providence-USC down to the wire finish.

I just want everybody to know I had Middle Tennessee State picked to win in my imaginary bracket. Yup, sure did

That was a REAL upset, not one of these "everybody picks a team to stage an 'upset' to the point where they become the favorites for all intents and purposes" situations like Little Rock. Everybody and their mother had them beating Purdue.

I'm a whole lot more fired up about this thing now than I was yesterday.
