Front loaded. I'm guessing 10 million guaranteed with escalators in years 3-4

Re: CJ Anderson
It's not a lot of money even if it is front-loaded, so if the Broncos want Anderson it should be easy for them to match.
I'm not a huge Anderson fan, but at this point there's not much out there. I'll take him over Ajayi, but that's not saying much...

Broncos have 17 million in cap room and no QB. Doubt they match.

Watching NFL network they are reporting that Broncos will match.

Kind of hope you are correct.

Re: CJ Anderson
Me too. Why waste resources on a running back when we still have major needs at guard, def end and corner?
Sign a lesser veteran back cheap, roll with ajayi and bring in an undrafted free agent or two to round out the depth chart.
Use the draft picks on more important positions unless we can grab a rare talent. Sounds like Elliott might fit that description but I certainly would not reach or trade up for him.

Re: CJ Anderson
I'm still scarred by Anderson setting a career high in rushing yardage against the Fins two seasons ago out of nowhere (that he broke by one yard the next game).

Okay, not really. But it does explain why they're going after him. Apparently I'm not the only one who will forever associate Anderson with that game.

Re: CJ Anderson
Given that he is an even lower mileage option than Miller and came cheaper than resigning Miller would have, this isn't bad if we get him.
I'd be mildly surprised if the Broncos don't match though.

Re: CJ Anderson
What the Phins need is a Lamar Smith type back. Someone cheap that can carry the workload for a year or two.
RB should not be a free agent priority Imo.

Agreed - that kind of back would be perfect.

Re: CJ Anderson
i'll take Anderson on a $4.5M per year deal over Miller on a $6.5M per year deal all day any day.

Re: CJ Anderson
I'd rather have Miller for the extra $1.5 million. I think Miller is more of a big-play threat.
Re: CJ Anderson
I agree with JMP lets just hope that Elliott is available at 13 in the draft

Still so many holes to fill. The talent-level in this draft looks like it will start to drop after about pick 10 or 11, so if Elliott makes it to 13 he should be the clear-cut BPA.
Having said that, I'd run to the podium with the pick if Paxton Lynch is there at 13 (and I think he will be). The more I see of him, the more I think he's the real deal. I know the Phins would NEVER do that...but that's what I'd do for sure.
Re: CJ Anderson
Agreed about Lynch. I would draft him even if I didn't intend on keeping him. But if I were running the show Tannehill would be traded.
But I don't believe the talent drops much until mid way through the second round. Players like Wiiliam Jackson III , Derick Henry (ran routes like s WR a pro day) , Joshua Perry and Braxton Miller are on my man crush list.

Re: CJ Anderson
What I'd love to do is draft Braxton Miller and put him in the slot, then move Landry outside with Parker, and Stills is the #4 guy coming off the bench. Again, something the Phins would NEVER do.
As for the draft's talent drop-off - sure, there will be good player available in the second and beyond, but I think the gap between the 'great' and 'good' prospects widens fairly early. That's why I wanted to stay at 8; we could have drafted one of the top players OR used that pick in a trade down...could be a valuable spot in the draft depending on who starts to slide.

Re: CJ Anderson
Look no further than what Houston just had to do (give $18 million a year to Osweiler in FA) to see the risk in continuing to pass over QB's in the draft year after year. Osweiler could keep improving, or he could be another Matt Flynn/Matt Schaub. It's an awful lot to pay the latter.
Texans wouldn't be in this situation if they had taken a Bortles, Bridgewater or Carr when they had the chance, and they certainly had plenty of chances to.
If Lynch is there at 13, I'd likely take him for the same reasons that the Chargers didn't pass on the QB despite having a young (but far from finished product) Brees in 2004: you never know what situation might develop in the near future, so take the BPA instead of drafting for need. We've been burned by the latter too many times to count in the last 15 years.

Unless we take a top RB for the future in the draft I would rather have built around Miller.

Miller is not powerful enough for my taste.

Derick Henry's pro day just blew me away. He could be a Charles Clay who can run out of the backfield. I was floored.

I think that Derrick Henry is going to be one of those power backs that won't last too long in the NFL.
