James Walker wrote:Let me start with a disclaimer: About 80 percent of what NFL teams say a week before the NFL draft should be taken with a grain of salt. But the Miami Dolphins did have an interesting perspective on arguably their biggest need.

According to vice president Mike Tannenbaum and general manager Chris Grier, the team is not concerned about the cornerback position. In fact, the front-office members said they were “confident" in the group they already have in-house heading into the NFL draft.

To briefly recap, Miami struggled in the secondary last season and essentially swapped Pro Bowl cornerback Brent Grimes for veteran Byron Maxwell, who was inconsistent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015. It's questionable if Maxwell is a true No. 1 cornerback, and the No. 2 and nickel jobs remain wide open.

Miami front office is going to send Miami down the brink of no return. 4-12 anyone......

The Fins love their CBs and RBs so much they will spend their first two picks on those positions guaranteed Laughing

Tannabaum is *really* bad at this smokescreen thing.

Either that or they are trying to get rid of the Dolphins fans.

Surely not all two dozen of us???

Very Happy

If it was anyone but Tannenbaum...There is no telling whom the Phins have rated higher on their board.

At this point, it could be ANY position EXCEPT QB I am thinking.

I'm not comfortable with any position on the team.

If they're comfortable at all, it's because they're on massive amounts of prescription anti-anxiety drugs.

Really? I'm fine with our WR's and safety's.

I'm fine with two of our WRs and one of our safeties. After Landry and Parker, the WR position gets very sketchy IMO. At safety, Jones is a given, but IAQ is unproven and there's zero quality depth.

It's depth that has me the most worried. I know you can't have all-pros throughout the lineup everywhere, but football is a game of attrition, and our depth at just about every position is poor.

I agree that we do have some solid starters, but there's nothing behind most of them.

Agree 110%.

They have some good starters at a few positions, but the drop off from those starters to their backups is tremendous, which means the starters are not getting PUSHED and have NO REASON to give 110% IMO.

If everyone played as hard as Reshad Jones, the Phins would be a lot better off. And he was playing to make the Pro bowl, so...not because some young whipper-snapper was about to take his job.

And then...there are the spots where the Phins do not have a quality starter, and keep plugging in backup ( or even SCRUB!!) caliber players. Both Guard spots, the CB not named Grimes(who is gone now), LBs, DTs not named Suh, DE (Vernon hit the mega jackpot and is gone, and Wake is old and broken down and may not ever be the same).

When you look at it, this roster may actually be WORSE than last year's 6-10 team.

Egad!

I have to stop. I am depressing myself before the glorious draft day spectacle. I am usually depressed AFTER the Phins draft.
