That's IT!!! I'm DONE!!!
Only the Fins would take an injury-prone pot smoker who doesn't even play an impact position with their first pick. That's it for me, I couldn't care less about the rest of this draft. Peace out, fellas. Literally ANY other player would have been better than THIS!!!

I really should have known. If anything, I probably jinxed it by talking about Tunsil falling all night. That should've been the big clue that the Fins would take him.

Re: That's IT!!! I'm DONE!!!
Well, no one expected him to be there at 13, at least 24 hours ago. That's for sure.
We will either look like geniuses or idiots with no real middle ground here.
He's a Hell of a talent, but if he's a bust, and we get nothing out of this pick......

Well, there's clearly a reason why he was available at 13. Left tackles are a premium in this league, and if he dropped that far it is clear that no one wanted to touch him.
Re: That's IT!!! I'm DONE!!!
One thing is for sure, whatever his faults, it can't possibly turn out as badly as drafting Jonathan Martin did.

Branden Albert cut or traded? Could happen...
As for Jonathan Martin, if Tunsil fails a drug test it could very well turn out to be that bad...

Still wouldn't be as bad. If Tunsil fails a drug test, he's the only one suspended, costing us a LT. Martin not only cost us a LT, but also both guards, one of whom went on to make the Pro Bowl for a division rival a year later.

I'd be fine with that. For one, it means that dallas freakin thomas is on the waiver wire. It also means that our 5 best players are on the starting OL. The only problem with that is that Tunsil and Bushrod are T's, not G's. Just a minor issue.

I just wonder where Tannenbaum got a hold of that video. Well done.

Once Zeke and the corners were gone this made sense. Can't count on Albert

There is no way on God's green earth the Fins were the only team who knew Tunsil would fall that far 24 hours ago. Although Grier is actually now claiming they knew about the video BEFORE yesterday. Seriously.

Ozzie Newsome passed on him. You know, the guy who drafted Ray Lewis and Ray Rice. The guy who didn't care that a LB he drafted a few years ago fell down a flight of stairs and fractured his skull. If Ozzie Freaking Newsome is passing on a player, then there's no chance of that player amounting to anything but a train wreck.

Martin wasn't taken 13th overall after being shown smoking pot on video the day of. This is worse. Also, for all intents and purposes Incognito ran the team when he was a Fin. He literally had every other player and coach under his thumb. If Martin hadn't exposed him, someone else would have. It's the 21st century, the truth ALWAYS comes out. The Bills were curbstomping the Fins when Incognito was in Miami, so sweeping the Fins last year was nothing unusual. And Incognito's 35 or so, he's got 2 more seasons in him at best and is already griping about his salary.

Re: That's IT!!! I'm DONE!!!
Some people had Tunsil rated as the number one player in the draft. I like his physical attributes a lot more than Jake Long. They are saying he is going to start at LG this season and if one of the tackles goes down with injury he will be moved to fill the position

Re: That's IT!!! I'm DONE!!!
People were saying Jordan was going to be the next JT right after that draft. People say lots of things about the player their team just picked in the first round right afterwards. Nobody wants to be the "negative nellie" who's not raving about how great the player will be. Not now, and not in '01 when the Fins took Fletcher. Nobody that is, except me and a handful of others who have seen the light. Or the darkness, however you want to interpret it.
My instincts say this pick may be the worst Fins draft day debacle yet. My instincts have never been wrong as far as this is concerned. I'll trust my instincts over the chance that all of Tunsil's problems and issues will just magically disappear after he's paid lots of money (officially this time) and is in a locker room we all know is dysfunctional to say the least.

Re: That's IT!!! I'm DONE!!!
Calm down. I have two words for you panickers....Warren Sapp!
He slid for pot smoking too.
I had to chuckle when it came time to pick. This another of those CLEVER moves Tannenbaum loves to make. He got the top rated player on some boards, traded down 5 spots for two possible starters, secured a potential replacement for Albert at LT, and got arguably, the best OG to plug a hole for the Phins....all in one pick!!
Risky, yes. You combine big money with Tunsil's obviously dysfunctional family and hangers-on, and you have the makings for a career killing string of incidents.
But... If Tunsil can play OG (mando says he will play OG) then this might be a very good thing.
Personally, I think I would have gone after Shaq Lawson, but this was just too clever a move for Tannenbaum to pass up IMHO.
Hope it works out.

I've yet to see a scout or news service give this pick anything less than an A- . I'm pleased.

I'm sure if you look back, the Jordan pick got high marks across the board as well.
FF had the right idea about taking Lawson. Coincidentally, that's exactly who I wanted as well. But now the Bills have him. Of course they do.

I think James is going to guard and Tunsil will be right tackle for one year than Albert will be gone.
Funny Thing is his Father in law files a law suit against Him the same day of the Draft and than these videos comes out, Don't have to be much of Lawyer to find out Who hacked his account.
Someone was going to take him later in the 1st rd so what the Hell, Fins need to chances on possibly getting a Impact Player and one just fell in there Lap that wasn't expected. I'm Happy for once now let's see if they get it right tonight.

The Lions did take a tackle just 3 spots later, but would it have been Tunsil? And would that have made them somehow smarter than everybody else? This is the Lions we're talking about, remember.
Other than that Tunsil would've fallen all the way to #31 at least. That's when the next OT was taken.

If you expect me to believe the team that's had rotten drafts for at least the past 15 years suddenly outsmarted everybody else on Tunsil, I'm afraid that's just too much to ask.
