Miami Dolphins: Kenny Stills Gone after 2016 Season?

Is anyone surprised at this move or it is just me. I feel that Stills will have to make a major impact for him to stay in Miami.

We'll see if Gase uses any deep passing. Tannehill improved in that area, I think, mainly because they actually threw deep more last year . . . still not enough, but they did it.

Carroo getting drafted in the 3rd round tells me that the Dolphins expect him to eventually be a starter. That means this will likely be the last season Stills plays in Miami.

As I've said before, I don't like Stills, but his speed makes him very unique on this roster. Landry, Parker and Carroo are all similar in terms of how they play and what they bring to the table. Stills, though, is a very different type of receiver. I think he adds something different to this group of receivers, and without him it looks like a very one-dimensional group. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the lack of speed will be very obvious when Stills leaves.

I was never big on Stills and think he should be released as well. but if he can get better this year then I might change my mind

With the cap looking like it does, I suspect EVERY consideration to be given to younger cheaper players. If Carroo shows ANY sign of being decent, Stilla will be gone.

A good coach uses his talent in ways they can benifit the team. Stills is a speed guy. Put him in position to help the team. We will see if Gase can utilize his talent.

Ideally we will find ourselves in a quandary like the Steelers a few years ago. They knew they could not pay two receivers as a #1 and kept Antonio Brown over Wallace. With the investment we've made using draft picks on our corps, hopefully we are faced with a similar proposition - having too much talent to pay them all.

On a related note, trading a 3rd for Stills was such a terrible move...ridiculous to give up that much for an unproven one-dimensional receiver.  Just one example of how Hickey was no better than Fireland.

Yes, it angers me to see anyone tossing away picks to move up for the next "MUST HAVE" talent they have a stiffy for, but at the same time, with the way the Phins draft, does it really matter??

They could have stayed pat and gotten a stinkeroonie, or a couple more stinkeroonies, with those picks.

Yep, the franchise has fallen on miserable hard times when it is common to EXPECT abject failure at every turn.

The sad thing about it is that Miami really think they are getting better.

Yeah, Stills is a guy that's going to get a lot of yards because he runs deep routes. He's not the type of receiver that's going to break tackles and get YAC that way. Matthews is a much more versatile, well-rounded receiver than Stills, and he's definitely the better YAC guy.
