The Miami Dolphins' search for a veteran receiver could lead to the return of Wes Welker, who played in Miami for three seasons early in his accomplished NFL career.

Welker, who is searching for a team to play his 12th season with, is visiting the Dolphins' Davie facility on Wednesday.

Wow! Didn't see this coming at all. I think we have enough concussed players on offense...not sure we need another. I tend to think Welker is done.

On the plus side, at least the Phins are doing their due diligence with a range of receivers.

Adding Welker, who has started 102 NFL games, to the roster would allow the Dolphins to develop Jarvis Landry, the team's 2014 second-round pick, as a split-end receiver.

I actually like the idea of moving Landry outside.

I've heard Landry really wants to prove he can play outside. He's a motivated dude. Probably my favorite player not named Suh.

I didn't expect much from Landry when he was drafted, but he definitely won me over. I don't like the way he was used at all...way too many passes behind or at the line of scrimmage. I'd love to see him lined up outisde, which hopefully will give him more opportunities in space instead of constantly working in crowds.

Welker's ship has sailed. He will always be remembered as a Pat.

I like the idea of Landry outside also in this particular offense.

Welker? Again, production. Can he produce? I have no idea.

Of the three WRs we have had in lately, I'm leaning Jennings. Best mix of veteran leadership with good recent production.

Leave it to the Fins to have a WR of that caliber fall into their laps, let him walk and go on to star for a division rival that was already much better, and then re-sign him again when he should be retiring instead.

Um no, we need to get younger. And less chronically injured players.
