Lippett to remain starter Empty Lippett to remain starter

Post by mercury22nathan Fri Sep 30, 2016 3:01 pm

Cornerback Tony Lippett “looked comfortable to me,” coach Adam Gase said Friday, despite having a tough night against Bengals receiver A.J. Green.

Gase said Lippett remains the starter “right now” at corner.

I will say that as bad as AJ Green torched him, he also made a couple nice plays. More than I can say for Maxwell, and the "arrow is still up" on Lippett, where I think Maxwell was at his best in Seattle and will never play that well again.

Why not see if Lippett can develop into a starter? We aren't going to the playoffs this year anyways, the more we lose the better our draft slot is. Too bad we traded so many 2017 picks away (I think a 3rd and a 4th). Talk about dumb. That's really dumb. Nice job Tannenbaum!

Worse case, we start Lippett until Culliver is ready, who I think is at the very least better than Maxwell by a mile. Maybe not elite, but a definite upgrade.

Yeah, I'm fine with this too. Might as well let the kid learn while he earns on a potential Bottom 3 team.

Bottom 3 team . . . jesus, thanks Ross. Thanks so much for hiring all these great football people.

I think this is a stupid move. The guy clearly isn't ready to play and he's a liability on the field. He made one decent play on a pass thrown behind Green, otherwise he looked completely inept. The talent level on this roster is mind-numbingly bad.

Season's over, Maxwell's not going to help at all.

Might as well throw this kid to the wolves and see what happens. That's my thought.

I'm not even holding out hope anymore like I used to back in the day.

The ship has already cracked down the center and is on its way to the bottom.

I agree with you, JMP, Lippett is crap right now, but does show a glimmer at times. Just shine the light on him so we can end this bullshit already. If he does something worth it, great, otherwise, moving on.

I pretty much feel the same way about just about any other developmental QB at this point. Just put them in there and let them suck, and possibly learn something. Besides, that paycheck will really help that guy in life, whereas guys like Tannehill are pretty much set and can do whatever it is he really wanted to do (medicine) before he got all involved in football.

By the way, we should keep Tannehill on the roster and make him a slot receiver, special teams guy, turn his ass into Jim Jensen, after reworking the shit out of his contract . . . I know, I know, that'll never happen, because some other team will be frothing at the crotch to get him because "we can clearly develop him better than Miami" a la every other scrub with some potential that dragged themselves through this league.

That's what I'm thinking. The timing of this move is very strange. Maxwell has been bad, but he's a veteran learning a new system. As much as I dislike him, it's pointless to shut him down already. Do we really want to go with three CBs that have little to no NFL experience??? It's stupid at this stage. We have 4 home games coming up, and those games will determine the fate of the season. As bad as things have been, as a head coach you can't give up after week 4.

(Rubs hands together.) Good...gooood...no more winning meaningless games after being eliminated from playoff contention, Gase is truly trying to tank for the #1 pick...

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Twisted Evil

Seriously, getting the top pick or close to it is the only goal for the season now. So why not go all out for it?

I think it's brilliant letting Lippett learn the position. While we're at it jets let Caroo, Drake and Grant get meaningful snaps as well.
