Maxwell Sucks

He's not a press corner, he's not an off corner, he's not a cover corner, he doesn't like to engage in the running game, he's not particularly good in zone, he's bad chasing if ANY little thing goes wrong, he takes bad angles, and he's not particularly good against physical WRs.

We could have traded for a bag of dog shit and received similar production.

Maxwell has talent but He's a big lazy pussy who makes business decisions instead of plays.

Maxwell is only good when there is a great secondary with him. That the only real reason he did so good in Seattle.

He made at least one clutch play in the fourth quarter - I think Vance asked him to cover Pryor and started playing him in press coverage. That helped.

Yeah, Maxwell did play a bit better toward the end of the game, but overall this guy is terrible.  I can see why the Eagles were so anxious to dump him.  He's a major weak link in this secondary.  He's a big corner that plays small, and he doesn't seem to be good at anything.

The other player we got from Philly, Kiko Alonso, isn't much better.  Not sure I've ever seen a MLB get blocked as easily as he does.  He racks up tackles, but they're usually 5-7 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.  Another weak link.

I actually think Alonso was a good acquisition. He'll be fine.

Don't forget, he also collected two turnovers for us in weeks 1 and 2. The problem IMO is he is our ONLY legitimate linebacker.

Alonso has skills, and he will make big plays from time to time because he has good instincts and a high motor.  The problem is, he's small and weak and can't do anything at the point of attack.  He's great at chasing plays, but unfortunately we need someone that makes the play in front of him, not from behind.

Good point and I agree. I believe that in Buffalo as a rookie, when he had that great season, he was playing WLB. Would be ideal if we had a more traditional MLB and move him over to the weakside. I'm wondering if this kind of thinking is behind the Butler signing.

Jenkins, I think, is showing that he's not a keeper. Just too inconsistent, has really been invisible.

I would also add that Alonso has been terrible in coverage so far, and that was supposed to be his strength.  I think it's a total mismatch asking him to cover a big TE...he's just too small.

It would be interesting to see him play the weakside - I think you are right that he may be better suited there.

Jenkins is apparently playing hurt, but yeah, he has been awful.  A scary amount of missed tackles.

Yes his footwork is pretty bad, which is why he cant be as disruptive as he could. The one against Pryor on the short slant was a perfect example.

That is true Alonso is one of our best LB and his footwork needs improvement but at the same time he never really was that good in coverage in Buffalo either.

Maxwell wasn't a pick he was apart of the trade with the Eagles which was ignorant. the only thing that came out good for Miami was Alonso and his is so so

OK, after watching Lippett play tonight, maybe Maxwell isn't as bad as we thought. That Lippett motherfucker is stealing money...holy crow he sucks so goddamn much. Webster's needs to add him to the dictionary under the heading "wasted roster spot". Fuck.

That's the thing, they have nothing, ZERO talent other than Jones in the Defensive Backfield.

Sure you can evaluate him...evaluate him on how he reacts when a receiver runs past him, or on how "tackles" like a 3-year old girl.  He looks completely lost in coverage - and he has shown zero improvement since pre-season.  He has no deep speed, and he can't react to any sort of move by the receiver.  It was totally dumb for the coaches to give him one-on-one responsibility on Green, but he didn't show anything positive at all...he simply is not an NFL player.  I'm not even sure he's practice squad material...there's just nothing there.
