Rashad Jones out for the season
Nate Bouda wrote:Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Dolphins fear Pro Bowl S Reshad Jones tore his rotator cuff and could be out for the remainder of the season.
Rapoport adds that Jones is undergoing further tests right now determine the severity of the injury.
Jones had already been dealing with a groin but losing him for any period of time would be a huge blow to the Dolphins’ defense.
Jones, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2010. He’s currently in the fourth year of his five-year, $30.81 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $7.225 million for the 2016 season.

WTF??? When the hell did that happen???
That would be an absolutely devastating loss. I guess the starting safeties would be IAQ and Thomas, which is a big downgrade from Jones and IAQ.

I have to agree and I not sure when that happen but Miami better find someone to replace him quick as hell.

Torn rotator cuff in his shoulder, it's possible he felt pain but played through it.
One tough SOB, and for me a definite priority to re-sign in the offseason. Good ball skills, good range and hits like a train.
He has been durable, so this injury is not a continuation of an injury-prone history.

He's not a FA till 2018, so we have him locked up for another year. I know he wants an extension (and more $$$), but this injury will likely hurt his leverage.
Re: Rashad Jones out for the season
And that didn't take long.
Typical Fins injury, nobody really notices the guy is hurt and then the next day he's suddenly out for the season. Happens way too often with this team.
Oh well, a top 5 pick is still within reach, right?
Meh.

Which is why I think we are going to lose him anyway because Tannebum will low ball the guy and he will take less to play somewhere else on a 1yr just outta spite.

Let me tell you Miami is definitely in reach for going after Peppers right now
I would personally go onto change.org myself and start a protest on that day to fire Tannebaum

Jabrill Peppers is the most exciting player in the country. He can do so many different things, and he's the definition of "playmaker". I'd draft him in a heartbeat, whether or not Jones is in the team's long-term plans.
Re: Rashad Jones out for the season
Yeah, but who's available in the first round that's injured and has a drug problem. That's our guy.

Tunsil wasn't injuried and I heard that Peppers got caught with weed once before so that might work out for us

Re: Rashad Jones out for the season
Confirmed today after 2nd opinion.
NO EXCUSES. We still need to beat the Bills. Our front 7 has to step up and play the run, so our secondary can focus on shutting down the pass and coming up for EDGE run support, and not after the back has already turned our weak edge and run for 10 yards.
We did well against Leveon Bell who is twice the runner and receiver McCoy is, and we had to respect the best receiver in the league Antonio Brown.
Show up, play hard, execute and do it again or revert to "more of the same".

Bell actually ran very well against the Phins, gaining over 5 yards a carry. And he also had a bunch of catches. I don't think the Phins stopped him as much as the score and flow of the game limited his opportunities. If the score was closer and he got more than 10 carries, the results may have been very different for our run D.
I also think that McCoy, right now, is just as good a runner and maybe even better than Bell. Bell is still fighting off the rust from his suspension, and McCoy is in total beast-mode right now. Also, that Bills' OL is absolutely dominant - they kick ass all game every game.
Unless the Phins jump out to a big lead early, I think McCoy will get tons of carries and he'll shred the Dolphin D. I'd also keep an eye on Mike Gillislee, who has developed into a home run hitter with the Bills. Personally, I don't think our D has a snowball's chance in hell of limiting the Bills' running game. Our LBs and DBs are simply no match for them.
Re: Rashad Jones out for the season
Yards don't matter if they aren't scoring. IMO, Miami will have a tough time this game because their secondary leader is out. Suh can rally the DL but still The secondary is going to be an issue

Good points and you are probably correct in your opinion, JMP.
What I'm saying is if they want to build some real hope, face another opponent that should kick our ass and find a way to win the game.

Miami will have a tough time because they have a weak defense, and they are facing an offense that is perfectly suited to exploit the Dolphin weaknesses.
As for Suh, he has never rallied anyone - he's not a leader, and never will be. He's a good player, but he is not going to make the players around him better.

Absolutely - they need to build off that win, not just fade back into crap. But - I just don't see a repeat performance against the Bills - it's an awful matchup for the Phins. And unlike the Steelers, the Bills are healthy.

With Jones out Miami needs a person to take that spot. He might be out be he better than what Miami got behind Thomas.

Re: Rashad Jones out for the season
I don't think Dashon Goldson brings much to the table at this stage of his career. I'd prefer to call up AJ Hendy frrom the practice squad and see if he can be developed. He looked like he had some potential in preseason.
