Beast. At least we've done one thing right, keep him in Miami until he's ready to retire.

For years I advocated trading Wake, but now I've given up and agree with you, he might as well just remain a Fin now.

Believe it or not, I had a good feeling about Wake from the moment I heard he was signed, every similar to the good feeling I had about Zach after seeing him play in college just once, and about Welker when he was a Fin. Way back in '09 I was referring to him among my friends as the Fins' "secret weapon".

Miami didn't know how to use Welker and that why they traded him. IMO, it was a good move at the time but now it was stupid.

Welker was traded because the Pats made him an offer that included a 'poison pill' that made it impossible for the Phins to match.  Of course, you could argue that the Phins should have tried to extend Welker's contract before that happened, but that's hindsight.  And the fact is, Welker was really nothing special with the Phins - there was no reason to extend him with a big contract at the time.

As for Wake, I absolutely would have traded him a couple of years ago when his value was high.  At this point, it's too late - given his age and contract, no team is going to give adequate compensation to Miami in a trade.
