Re: GAME THOUGHTS!!! GAME THOUGHTS!!!
Phillip Rivers is a mouthy prick who invited karma in and watched as it instantly bit him in his far-too-over-productive junk.
Maxwell still sucks. Made some good plays, but he is the holding-est CB I've ever witnessed play.
Seven penalties for first downs? Or was it 8? I know we've been undisciplined, but that's over officiating at it's finest. Too many flags, it makes the game boring.
Tannehill played excellent today for his current role in this offense. Franklyn Ajaye (no, I didn't make a typo) was less effective today statistically, but made some good plays. The defense bent a lot, but the turnovers were the key to the game. If not for some terrible calls and that fumbled punt return (please, don't catch the fucking ball inside the 10), I think the Dolphins might have beaten the crap out of them. The offensive line started to really falter in the 4th quarter, but the offense made enough plays to get it done. Sims for the most part is a good player, but he needed to remove his head from his ass down there in the end zone towards the end of the game where we could have gone ahead instead of tied it up. He's the second guy in the progression, expect the ball, and RUN THE DAMN ROUTE.
Lippett is looking like a project that is going to really pay off in the long run. Funny how guys actually develop under better coaches.
All in all, a very, very good road win.

He was jawing all game, being his normal unsportsmanlike self. He then proceeded to throw 23 interceptions, one for a TD. It was marvelous.

Always nice to see the youngsters like Lippett and Parker have good games and show progress. Penalties aside, that was a good win against a quality opponent on the road.

My how things have changed since I called for Ross to Kick Gase to the curb back in early October!!!
So, is everyone onboard with keeping Gase and Co?
There do seem to be some GOOD THINGS going on with the team.
That is the first time I can remember that happening since Parcells and Sparano took over after Cam-Mueller.

I'll tell ya what my brother, Gase has managed to get them to buy in, which is something the last half a dozen coaches could not do. That one thing makes him a legitimate coach.

On Gase, I will add that he has solved a number of problems, ranging from the run defense, to 3rd down defense, to fixing what was a horrible running game, and finally stopping the unmitigated abuse of Tannehill by every defense we face.
A problem solver that can lead a team of men is going to turn into a good coach. Being this is his first year, all signs are pointing in the right direction.

Re: GAME THOUGHTS!!! GAME THOUGHTS!!!
Gase simplified pretty much everything, because he realized that the players could not do what he initially wanted them to do. Great job adjusting his mindset to match the skills of the team.

Gase is ace

Not sure how the 1-4 start fit into his master plan, though

Re: GAME THOUGHTS!!! GAME THOUGHTS!!!
The 1-4 start was probably a function of the quality of our opponents, while we were still installing new systems on both sides of the ball. We faced 3 playoff caliber opponents, one of which was New England at home, and a bad Cleveland team, that did give us the one "W". Did anyone really think we were beating the Pats in Foxboro? Not even without Tom Brady, which is exactly what happened. I like our chances in the rematch in Miami, though. We have something over them in our house, the trend is too pronounced to ignore.
The loss to Tennessee doesn't look so bad given how that team has evolved. They are 5-5 and just beat the living hell out of Green Bay. So it wasn't a loss to the embarrassing door mat we thought they would be early in the season.
My concern is starting to shift to the scouting and talent arm of the team. We got lucky with Tunsil falling to us. I think Howard will turn into a great pick for us. I am not liking the picks of Carroo, Grant or Drake. Drake is now trending a distant third to an impressive year from Williams. Grant looks like he has value as a specialist only, and he needs to stop muffing so many kicks. Carroo has been invisible. Plus, we traded away too many picks in our constant maneuvering. Just stop and use the picks we have.
Gase is showing he has the talent and mettle to lead a team. His roster remains flawed, and is very thin on depth. Only Grier can fix this problem by drafting well, and Tannenbaum needs to stop throwing away picks. Gase has final call on the makeup of the 53 man roster, but if he has 90 nobodies in camp, selecting 53 of them any way you slice it won't work. We need some more talent on this squad, and as much as I hate to say it, I would not be disappointed if we selected a stud at WR in round one.

I think that Grant was feeling himself a little to much and that why he was dropping the ball. He had the chip on his shoulder and it was knocked off that game.

I don't think the 1-4 start had much to do with our opponents. I think it mostly had to do with poor coaching - specifically, coaches trying to force players into schemes that they couldn't succeed in. I think Gase and Joseph seriously misjudged the roster they had to work with, and they were so sold on their own schemes that they thought they could just plug and play with anyone. It ended up being a major fail, and the playcalling and game management in those first 5 games was absolutely awful. But the 1-4 start may end up being a blessing in disguise, because it taught this inexperienced coaching staff how to adapt their schemes to the players they have.
As far as talent acquisition, that will remain the Achilles heal of this team as long as Tannenbaum is in charge, IMHO. I don't trust Tannenbaum, Grier or the scouts to become great talent evaluators - at all.
Re: GAME THOUGHTS!!! GAME THOUGHTS!!!
I read that the Defense was not talking like they were suppose too. Jenkins stated that they were mostly watching film by themselves and not together talking about problems.
