Tom Coughlin
It's clear the Dolphins made the wrong decision when they hired Gase as the head coach. I think it's time to bring in an older hardline coach to scrub the roster and the staff of 20 years of bad decisions. Dolphins need a re-make all the way around.

Yeah, Gase is a disaster. Huge mistake hiring him.
I don't know who I want as the next coach, but I just hope it's someone that is competent and experienced. No more first timers that have to learn on the job. Enough is enough.

Don't know if we can give up on Gase yet. He was given a roster of crap to work with.

The roster isn't much different than last year's. Gase has both the offense and defense playing worse than ever, and he has made no adjustments to the schemes on either side. He's been absolutely awful and has shown nothing positive.
Re: Tom Coughlin
Coughlin is past his prime. He's 70, and the Giants were not playing up to the team's potential the last couple of years he was there.
He was definitely on my interest list after the Jaguars let him go, and he's probably a Hall of Famer. But we would be bringing him in ten years too late. Didn't work out so well when we brought Parcells in to run things, and Coughlin is five years older than Parcells was then.
Gase definitely needs to have this team playing better in the second half of the season to survive.

Firing Gase would be fine with me - if Tannenbaum is gone first.
If this thing needs to get torn down to the ground (and the player roster is certainly screaming for this) then Tannenbaum is the first head to roll.
Let the next President and GM determine if they want to retain the coaching staff. I could care less either way. I just want Tannenbaum OUT of Miami.

I have to agree with White if Gase goes then Tannebaum has to be gone as well.
I also have to agree with Jeg, Miami might have won some games last year but they were great at all and if getting rid of two or three players makes your team 1-4 then something was wrong in the beginning.

Just thought this was good for a laugh!! Although they only won 4 games and are .500 just seems as though this a long long time ago.

Re: Tom Coughlin
I really don't like this coaching staff, but after winning 3 in a row it's tough to complain.
Re: Tom Coughlin
Ummm. No. I'll take Gase and let him learn on the job.
Hell, at least he's learning. Has McCoy? Because he's taken an excellent QB (Rivers) and parlayed that into a sub-500 record over 4 years. FOUR YEARS.
What should the Chargers fans say? Have patience?!?!

Philbin was 2-0 VS McCoy. Let that sink in for a minute or ten.
Gase is ace in my book

To be fair to McCoy, I have never seen a team that has more injuries than the Chargers - year after year. It's really unbelievable. Yesterday both of their inside LBs were out and they were using bottom-of-the-roster receivers, and they lost at least two defensive players during the game and one of their OL was going in and out. I don't know if it's a lack of conditioning or what, but that team is snakebit with injuries.
But yeah, McCoy will eventually have to take the fall - and it will be sooner rather than later.
Re: Tom Coughlin
I'm still shocked McCoy survived last season, and the only explanation I can think of is that Spanos was too cheap to hire a new coach in addition to the expense of moving. Leave it to the Chargers to be stuck with the same coach and stadium this year Hell, we're talking about the team that was too cheap to even sign Joey Bosa to the cookie cutter rookie deal that all top 5 picks get these days.

Completely surprised by the turnaround. I do believe firing two bums on the O-line was the turning point. Teams always preach accountability but when players continue to bumble and nothing is done iit brings the others down

If you don't get rid of the bums then players stop caring. Gase gave Miami a reason to believe.

Re: Tom Coughlin
I think the turnaround involved two things: getting the OL healthy, and the coaches becoming more flexible.
The healthy OL has given us an unstoppablke running game that will keep us in every game.
The coaches were completely inflexible early in the season, trying to force their systems on players that just didn't fit. After the Titans loss, they completely changed their philosophy. On offense, they took control away from Tannehill, abandoned the stupid up-tempo offense, committed to the run, and ran fewer 5-wide sets. On defense, they cut down on the stupid wide-9 formation, brought the CBs up, gave Wake more playing time and Williams less, and most importantly, started moving players around and getting more creative (as we saw with Alonso yesterday). It's refreshing to FINALLY have a coaching staff that is willing and able to make adjustments. It just sucks that we had to go 1-4 before they got their heades out of their asses.

I now believe the league was punishing the Fins for something by having them open against the Seahawks and Pats, both on the road no less. It's the only explanation that makes sense. Maybe it's payback for Bullygate, who the hell knows.
ANYWAY...let's break down that 1-4 start a bit, shall we? Yes, they should've won the Seahawks game. But they also should've lost the Browns game, so that evens out. And they're better off in terms of playoff tiebreaker purposes having done it that way instead of the opposite.
No way they were beating the Pats. And the Titans loss turned out to literally be the best thing that could've happened to them.
That leaves the Bengals loss as the one that truly stings. Lord help us all if they're in and the Fins are out because of that game. I know one poster in particular who will either go full-on apoplectic on us or stop posting altogether
And the Chiefs made the playoffs after starting 1-5 just last season so there's plenty of precedent for rebounding.

I'll also add a couple on defense. They gave Maxwell a wake up call with a demotion that seems to have worked. They also gave Branch the starting job opposite Wake, and he's playing well. Mitchell surprised me this week with a couple nice plays, and I'm sure that will either wake up Phillips, or he will be seeing fewer snaps also.
Definitely a change for the better when we try a different approach (running the ball all day), it works, and the staff not only sticks with it but expands the approach. Maybe more important than Ajayi, the offensive line is better at running blocking than pass blocking, and guys like Albert and Pouncey are elite run blockers. You constantly see Pouncey getting out to the second level. So why NOT leverage that strength in the offense?

The Bengals losing last night definitely helps us.

I literally don't even pay attention to the Monday and Thursday night games now. No idea who's even playing in them. I was aware the Bengals didn't play on Sunday but I just figured they had a bye. Ignorance truly is bliss sometimes, especially in today's world.

Monday night games can be very good, but the Thursday abortions are just abysmal.

The Bengals loss helps a little but it's the AFC West teams that we need to fold.

very true. and considering they all have to play each other at least one more time - and twice in the case of KC vs. Denver - i think there is a very good chance something will give. but none of this will matter unless the Phins keep winning.

Yep. And there are a lot of other teams in the mix as well - Bills, Steelers, Titans, Bengals and Colts are all still alive.
The Titans, especially, look like a team that could make a serious run. Their offense has been great lately, and they have a pretty favorable schedule the rest of the way.
