Oh God, I hope you're right.

It does seem like an odd move for Fisher - the Dolphins have been tough on the last four QBs. Sacks/interceptikons - Roethlisberger got dinged up, Fitz was almost knocked out of the game.

You're going to start a rookie against Suh and Wake?

I not going to jinx anything.

This is a good article about the Rams:

Archie Mason wrote:It's not fair to expect a QB one year removed from Cal to transition seamlessly in the National Football League, but at this point, it is fair to expect Goff to be an improvement over Keenum. even when his first start comes against a defense led by Ndamukong Suh. Opening kick-off is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. ET live on FOX. That was Rams' fourth consecutive loss after a 3-1 start. The Miami Dolphins haven't won five straight games since the end of the 2008 season.

Despite the Rams sitting at 4-5, Keenum has failed to lead a TD drive in two of those victories, including in Sunday's 9-6 win at the New York Jets.

Keenum has been awful.  But what does it say about Goff that he hasn't been able to pass Keenum yet???  Goff was dreadful in preseason, and from what I understand he's looked just as bad in practice throughout the season.  I think this is a change just to make a change.  Who knows...maybe it works and provides a spark for the Rams.  But at this point, the Rams simply have no QB.

If the Fins can't beat Goff and Anthem Kneeling Hatemonger these next two games, then more players need to be cut fo sho.

I'd feel a lot better if Albert starts. This is a bad time to downgrade the offensive line.

One bright spot, Ajayi may play even more angry after the Chargers did a good job containing him, for the most part.

Actually it's the best time. Who cares if the Fins win 3-0, as long as they win? At least Albert won't be done for the season. Not from this, anyway. I think.

If there's a "good" time for Albert to be hurt, it's these next two games. We can win both games easily without Albert. I'd let him sit and get healthy for the end of the season.

I know y'all want to fix the defensive line in the off season, but we REALLY should consider a couple good linemen on the offensive side. We do that and we're close to complete offensively. Maybe just focus on DL and OL in the draft. These damn OL injuries every single year are really putting a kink in my colon.

i'm not sure how to feel about this. i kind of liked the thought of facing Keenum considering how awful he's been playing. Goff is an unknown. he could come out and stink up the joint or come out and play with nothing too lose. just because he's been stuck behind Keenum doesn't guarantee that he is worse. it wouldn't be the first time an old school coach forced a younger player to sit behind a veteran only to have the rookie come out later and play well and then have the fans question why it took the coach so long to turn over the reigns. we needn't have to look too far beyond the recent history of our own beleaguered franchise to know that head coaches don't always know everything when sticking too long with veterans who can't get it done (cough, cough, Dallas Thomas, cough, cough).

All true, but I don't think I've heard one positive thing about Goff since he put on a Rams uniform.  Goff was terrible in preseason, and he has reportedly continued to look terrible in practice.   Plus, he has been the #3 and #2 QB all season - meaning that he hasn't even had much practice time with the starters.  Against a Miami defense that has finally discovered a consistent pass rush, I think this is setting up to be a major disaster for the rookie.  I just picked up the Miami D on my fantasy team, and I'm expecting big things this week!

LB, TE and DB all have to be fixed as well, and I'd probably add WR to that list too.

But yeah, OL and DL definitely need to be fixed.  Like I said, I'd replace the starting right side of the OL, and we certainly need more quality depth across the board.  On the DL, a pass rushing DE is a must and we also need a run-stopping DT.

This team is still very much a mess from a roster standpoint, and we'll have a shit-ton of openings this offseason due to pending FAs and overpriced vets that will get cut.

That reminds me, I think we'll be in good shape from a salary cap standpoint, meaning we COULD spend some money on the higher priced free agents that hit the market to plug one or more of these roster holes.

I'm kind of torn now seeing how Suh has worked out. True, he's expensive. He's also a beast, drawing constant double teams, playing very well, making plays and bringing an intimidation factor to our defensive line.

We all have to acknowledge that kind of talent hitting the market is a rare thing. But would I pay for a top shelf guard still in his prime? I'd at least consider it, given what it would do to turn a strength - our running game - into an even bigger strength. How about a blue chip corner? Again, rare that any hit the open market, but if it does happen you do have to consider securing a pro bowl talent at one of the more important positions on the field.

We've taken the opposite value approach and brought in tons of cheap journeymen, but what has that ever netted us? More guys than I can name came in, did nothing, and were unceremoniously dumped before the contract was up.

The two linebackers we signed under Ireland were horrible, but that lines up with what I think is this team's philosophy. I don't see them breaking the bank for a linebacker, more likely offensive line, defensive line, or cornerback. What about someone like Martellus Bennett? Tight ends don't make a ton, so it would be pretty easy to win a bidding war and add a great weapon to our offense.

The Phins should have tons of cap space, and I fully expect Tannenbaum to spend like a drunken sailor.  I think he'll look to build the roster through free agency.  In the draft, I see him trading away most of our picks to trade up for a player or two that he "must" have.

Hope I'm wrong - I'd much rather build through the draft.  That said, signing a vet TE like Bennett would be a good idea.

Well Miami won't have that many picks to get rid of next year, so he will have to use the draft. Hopefully Gase has skills to persuade him not to trade away the picks.

This game has all the earmarks of a setback.

Albert questionable.

Rams starting a QB far more talented than the one they've had out there all year, and there's no NFL regular season film on him to study

Second of a back to back west coast road trip.

Hope I'm wrong.

I understand what you're saying, but IMO the Fins barely scrape by just like the Rams game in '08. Or '12 for that matter.

I agree with Hal. Would be much more comfortable facing Keenum.

Losing Albert against a team with this caliber defense also scares me.

If the Phins do win, it's a testament to Gase and Joseph finding ways to make it work. Tannehill will have to make plays again like he did against San Diego. I think it will be tough sledding for the J train.

Completely disagree.

The Rams are 1-4 in their last 5 games. They have one of the worst offenses in the league, and their defense is middle of the pack.

The Dolphins will win, and they'll win big. And they'll win because the Rams are an inferior opponent. Ajayi will run for close to 150 yards against a mediocre Rams' run D, and the Miami D will force at least 3 turnovers against a QB that is nowhere near ready for the NFL. Tannehill won't need to do much in this one - just protect the ball.

I've been nervous about the past few games, but not this one. Hell no. This will be a cakewalk. I'm thinking something like 24-3, Dolphins.

What's interesting to me is that we had cap space this past offseason too, and we really didn't spend much in free agency at all.

The $8 million for Williams sounds like a lot until you remember that Vernon got a Suh-caliber contract from the Giants. We picked up a number of cheaper guys instead like Jones, Branch, Butler, and Foster. Additionally, many were done on short term, 1 or 2 season deals. There were high priced corners and guards available too, and we did not sign one of them either. You could count the Eagles trade as a high priced move, but getting Alonso while still on his rookie deal cancels out the Maxwell contract to a large extent.

I'm wondering if this was a function of being in the first year of a new regime, and the desire to evaluate the roster before spending big? Or, could it signal a true change in philosophy from Tannenbaum?

If I'm looking at the roster right now, my top two free agent targets would probably be guys on this squad already. Re-sign Alonso and move him to weakside, because I think you can get him signed with a reasonable offer, and he's playing really well right now. With this size and coverage skills, the weakside spot makes much more sense, and more than one beat writer has stated this same opinion. Give up on Jenkins and find a new MLB instead.

Secondly, re-sign Branch and keep him at RDE. We're probably cutting Williams, and it's no guarantee that we'll come out of the draft with a great DE prospect, even though it should be a target. Branch has earned the starting spot, and coaches reviews have been very positive on his play and energy. Plus he's still young and playing in his prime.

Reward your own players for performance, it sends the right message to reinforce the negative case - benching and releasing those who don't perform.

By the time we gained all that cap space, all the big-name free agents were already gone.  I think the goal this past offseason was to free up cap space that they could push to 2017 so they could back up the Brinks truck for some big names.

Alonso is a restricted free agent.  I wouldn't sign him to a long-term deal.  Let's see him put togther two conseuctive healthy/solid seasons first - let him earn it.  He's way too inconsistent for my taste, and I worry that his inability to shed blocks might be even more problematic playing outside.

Branch, I could take or leave.  I don't think he's anything special.  Keep him if he's cheap, let him chase the money if he overvalues himself.
