First mock draft Empty First mock draft

Post by rightchea Sun Jan 15, 2017 8:32 pm

haven't done to much research but here it is.....

Round 1 Pick 29 (PITT): Zach Cunningham, OLB, Vanderbilt (A)
Round 2 Pick 29 (PITT): Kendell Beckwith, ILB, LSU (C)
Round 2 Pick 31 (DAL): Dorian Johnson, OG, Pittsburgh (B+)
Round 3 Pick 31 (DAL): Adam Shaheen, TE, Ashland (A-)
Round 4 Pick 31 (DAL): Artavis Scott, WR, Clemson (A+)
Round 5 Pick 22: Danny Isidora, OG, Miami (Fla.) (B-)
Round 6 Pick 22: Demetrious Cox, FS, Michigan State (F)
Round 7 Pick 22: Ken Ekanem, DE, Virginia Tech (F)

was able to get a couple of trades but couldn't get the last two out of F grade. Did pick a WR late to replace Carroo and Grant. Like Zach Cunningham for Miami would be a nice fit.

I have a feeling Cunningham is going to go very high once teams see his workouts...but he'd a be a great fit for the Phins for sure.

I had to look up this Adam Shaheen guy...not familiar with him. 6'6", 260 with speed and excellent hands...could be a small (very small!) school gem. I like it!

Yes, if Miami has a shot at Cunningham, Reuben Foster, or even Jarrad Davis from Fla would be GREAT Candidates for Defensive leaders on the Phins IMHO.

Cunningham was a beast this year. You could tell when Davis was out of the Fla lineup. He plays from sideline to sideline.

Foster would be the BEST pick I am thinking, but I doubt he is there when the Phins pick.

All that said, if the Phins pick a LB early, I will be greatly surprised.

Considering 8 DE and 7 CB's have first round grades I'm pretty confident Cunningham will be on the board.

Yep, could be - and a lot of good LBs have been under-drafted recently too. I just have a feeling Cunningham is going to kill it in workouts and drive his value up. But hey, if that helps Foster drop to us I'm fine with it! LOL

I think we need to stop going after big corners if all we are going to do is play off the line of scrimmage. If you are going to be physical in the passing game then you cant play 10 yards off the ball. So there's that.

The top half of the linebackers look to be difference makers in year 1 but there is a steep drop off after that. I think Miami addresses the linebacker position in F/A this year and draft LB's next year. My priority would DE, CB, OG, and maybe WR is Stills walks.

Round 1 Pick 23 (NYG): Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan (B+)
Round 1 Pick 25 (HOU): Budda Baker, FS, Washington (B)
Round 2 Pick 22: David Njoku, TE, Miami (Fla.) (A)
Round 3 Pick 23 (NYG): Kevin King, CB, Washington (A)
Round 3 Pick 25 (HOU): Tyler Orlosky, C, West Virginia (A+)
Round 4 Pick 31 (NYG): Carroll Phillips, OLB, Illinois (B)
Round 5 Pick 22: Ryan Glasgow, DT, Michigan (A+)
Round 6 Pick 22: Josh Reynolds, WR, Texas A&M (A+)
Round 7 Pick 22: Storm Norton, OT, Toledo (B-)

i tried again this is what i came out with. this draft i think would turn out pretty well. I traded away a future #1, as I felt we would be in a AFC championship game by then and the draft position would be a high 2nd round anyway.

Yeah, it's way too early, but looking at our biggest needs and likely picks of other teams, I'd guess that O.J. Howard is our likely pick at 22. Not that that is a bad thing. He could be another Jimmy Graham, and if he is, Hell, that's well worth a top 10 pick let alone # 22.

That said, he could easily move up higher than 22 by April 27, but at the moment, I think he'll be there.

Defensive needs are huge too, but adding Howard to our other skill position players could really make the offense take a big leap in year two also.

I think TE could use an upgrade but I don't see it as a priority. DE is a real need and LB's absolutely is the glaring need. We made enough plays outside with the receivers and the play actions. They won't move Sims so I would ride it out and start thinking of the defensive future. I believe Wake and Suh will be gone after next season. We absolutely need to get defensive stars now All across the board.

It looks like Tannebaum is set to start wheeling and dealing with the picks. Without a 3rd and a 4th I truly believe he will trade out of the first to get more picks and acquire players. I don't see us picking anywhere in the first unless he trades a future pick

The problem is that we are going for more picks but knowing Tannebaum he either wont do that or will trade away more picks. I am hoping that Gase talks Tannbaum in trading down so that we can get more picks.

Sign me up for Howard right now. TE is a huge need as I see it. Sims is OK, but he's more of an in-line short-yardage receiver and teams don't have to scheme for him. You add a guy like OJ Howard, and the offense is transformed. He can line up anywhere and run any route, and when he's covered by a LB it's a huge mismatch. We sucked on 3rd downs again this season, and adding a stud receiving TE could change that.

Yes, the defense sucks - but the offense needs help too.

Jax is supposed to cut Julius Thomas. I hear, we are after him as a FA TE. Immediate upgrade over Sims as the No. 1 TE.

Thomas has a reputation as a soft player that doesn't always give great effort, and he has an extensive injury history. He's also done nothing of note since Peyton Manning stopped being his QB. Worth looking into because he had his best seasons with Gase and the Broncos, but I'm thinking this isn't the way we should go.
