Between that and Dion Jordan, the former third overall pick, being a virtual unknown, it's time for the Miami Dolphins to start thinking about who they need as a pass-rusher of the future.
If they want to go for a bang for your buck selection long-term, the easiest decision is Takkarist McKinley of UCLA. McKinley runs like DeMarcus Ware, though he has some inconsistent pad level issues.
He's a junior college transfer, so he's only had top level coaching for a few years, but he's also just a 21-year-old, despite the fact that he's a senior. After initially accepting a Senior Bowl invite, McKinley will not be at the game this week, though he would have been one of the best prospects in attendance.

Seems very raw, and he's only had one great season. Also very short (6'2") for a DE. A lot of people think his best position will be 3-4 OLB. I don't know...players like this scare me. In the first round I prefer players with a more consistent college career.

If I'm going DE in round one it must be Taco.
I still think Tannembaum fills the defensive holes via free agency or trade. Then they go TE in round one.

ESPN 3 round mock has us taking TE OJ Howard from Alabama. Makes my toes tingle. Athletic, seam-running TE stretching the field. I know defense is our biggest need, but I am a BPA pick fan. If he is there at 22 and is BPA, do it. We have so many holes on defense to fill, I don't think one less pick will kill that possibility. Plus, we are not filling all our needs in one off season, anyways.

I seen a lot of mocks draft having us take him at 22 but lets see what his combine looks like. Some have been saying that TE might not be taken til the 2nd round

I think Howard and the kid from the U are going to blow up the combine.

My thoughts exactly. Watching the Dolphins this season, it is clear that we are still missing something on offense - and I think it's a huge, field-stretching TE. Howard fits the bill and would make this offense so much better. And Gase loves to throw the ball to TEs. Howard is a perfect fit, if he's there at 22 - but I think he's going to be gone by then.

Yep - both players will definitely go in the first barring something strange happening. With the success of guys like Gronk and Kelce, teams are scrambling to find similar TEs - and Howard and Njoke can both be that type of impact player. Teams will be drooling after seeing these guys at the Combine. Howard will be a stud from day one, while Njoke may need a bit more seasoning - but both players fit the mold of the modern pass-catching TE.
