Phins still unsure about Tannehill's knee
http://www.espn.com/blog/miami-dolphins/post/_/id/24354/dolphins-qb-ryan-tannehills-offseason-rehab-plan-remains-unclear
Why does every Dolphin injury have to involve drama? Seems really strange to me that after all these weeks, Tannehill's status is still a mystery. Also very strange comments from Gase...you would think he'd try to put a positive spin on Tannehill's status, but he did the exact opposite. I don't know...hard to speculate, but I have to think that this doesn't seem like a good situation for Tannehill.
Head coach Adam Gase said during the team’s season-ending news conference that no decision has been made concerning Tannehill’s knee. Surgery hasn’t been ruled out.
"We still don’t have all the exacts, we’re working through that right now," Gase said. "He’s still going through a rehab stage right now and going through what he has to do with the trainers and our doctors are evaluating.
"I don’t have the information to tell you what’s going on, where exactly we’re at and what happens moving forward.”
...
Further magnifying the importance of Tannehill getting healthy is his salary. He made $9.34 million last season, but his salary jumps to $18 million in 2017.
“We’re still collecting information,” Gase said. “Doctors are still giving us what possibly could be down the road. So it’s hard for us to really pinpoint anything as of this moment right now.”

Seriously, surgical success rates nowadays for that surgery are astronomical. Get it done before he ends up missing half of next year and we have another wasted season.
Still collecting fucking information?
Scope his knee with a camera and figure it out if you're that unable to determine what's going on.

Yeah, there are numerous test and procedures available to look at the knee, so I don't understand why no one knows anything yet. Just doesn't make sense, and Gase acting like he's completely clueless sure doesn't help anyone.

Exactly, Sounds like Miami not trying to tell anyone anything.

Still going...
The Phins still don't know the status of Tannehill's knee. He's getting another MRI next week and Tannenbaum said today that they still don't know if he'll need surgery or not.
I've never heard of a situation where there is this much uncertainty about a knee injury to a major professional athlete TWO MONTHS after it happened. Usually, surgery is immediate if it's needed...it doesn't take months to make that determination.
I'm actually sort of shocked about how the Dolphins are handling this. First Gase says that he doesn't know anything a month after the injury, and now a month after that Tannenbaum says that he doesn't know anything...seems like a very strange way to talk to the public about your franchise QB's injury. I don't know what's going on and maybe I'm overreacting, but to paraphrase Shakespeare, something is rotten in the city of Miami.

This is their way to "repeal and replace" the quarterback.

I was wondering the same thing. $3.5 million of Tannehill's 2017 salary is already guaranteed. The remaining $14.475 million becomes fully guaranteed on March 13. If it is determined that Tannehill does in fact need surgery and is scheduled to miss all or part of the 2017 season, will the Phins want to pay him that much money???
Conspiracy theories aside, it's really, really strange that the Dolphins are publicly NOT trying to put a positive spin on Tannehill's injury. If anything, they are purposely creating doubt. Not sure what the purpose is, but the "I know nothing" responses from Gase and Tannenbaum are very peculiar.
Re: Phins still unsure about Tannehill's knee
End of January, this isn't looking good.
I'm predicting he will need an ACL repair. From what I understand, the MCL will heal on its own. Net net - he misses 2017 season.
So, focus on rebuilding the defense and be sure we have one hell of a running game.
