Miami Dolphins: Top 10 Most Important Free Agents
Joe Schad wrote:With that in mind, here is a look at the Top 10 most important Miami Dolphins free agents. Free agency begins March 9 at 4 p.m. ET. Remember that any player is replaceable. That’s the mindset the New England Patriots take. That’s the mindset any winning organization takes. So while it would be nice to keep them all, Tannenbaum and General Manager Chris Grier acknowledge that’s not how the NFL system is designed

I'd like to have Stills back, but only at the right price. Sims would be second on my list, again only at the right price. And if Denney wants to keep playing, bring him back - no brainer.
The other 7 players listed really wouldn't be a priority to me at all...to be honest, I'd rather see most of them off the team. Especially Alonso - he's more problem than solution IMO.

As usual I say let everyone walk and replace Matt Moore!

That would be priority #1 for me. It kills me that he's still on the team. Sadly, I think there's zero chance of the Phins dumping him.

I would go after Alonso for the right price as well. He did okay this year and he is a vet there isn't many good players in FA at the moment

Alonso is everything that's wrong with this defense: poor angles, easily blocked, inconsistent tackler, awful coverage skills, zero pass rush ability, terrible blitzer...but hey, he's better than the other other scrubs we've had in recent years, so he must be great, right? When the defense has been bad for years, even a shiny turd looks good...but at the end of the day, it's still a turd.
That's Kiko Alonso in a nutshell: a shiny turd. In the middle, he's absolutely awful against both the run and pass. Could he be better at OLB? Maybe...but I'd just as soon find a LB that's, you know, actually good on his own merits and not good because he's better than some scrub.
I actually liked Alonso when he was a Bill. But it seems that multiple injuries have taken away his speed and ability to tackle, and now he's just a JAG. He is always near the ball and makes about 2 big plays a year, but at this stage he's a liability in the middle. Just too many missed plays...he's a big reason the Miami defense was so bad this season. Sadly, I think the Dolphins disagree with me and we'll have to suffer through at least a couple more years of Alonso consistently getting blocked out of plays at MLB.

I would give Alonzo a 4th round tender and prey some one takes the bait. He's TOO FREAKIN SMALL! BTW if I want small LB's I'll go get big safeties. Think about it.

Yep, agree completely. If you have small LBs, they better be fast with strong coverage skills.
Re: Miami Dolphins: Top 10 Most Important Free Agents
Guess that is true but their aren't many vets that are available who is capable enough and cheap enough for Miami to go after

You are so correct. This is a horrible year to be without LB's. And I will say I love KIko the person. Think he's hilarious, but my only hope for him is at WLB.

I think Alonso is not a 4-3 MLB Joseph's scheme. They have Suh, who is an attacking DL! You cannot expose Alonso to taking on blocks! He is better at shooting gaps. I believe if we had space eaters in the DT Positions he would be more inclined to make better angles, and they are not going to pay Suh to take up space. IMHO. If they build around Suh then we need Foster or Miller. I'd even take a chance on Manti Teo coming of IR.

Yep. And I wouldn't sign an average linebacker to a big contract just to add a guy, that would be a mistake. I'd rather focus on the numerous other needs, fill them with really good players, and if I have to I band-aid again at LB or use a couple draft picks on the position.
The only thing worse than standing pat at linebacker would be overpaying for one or more average players that represent a marginal improvement. Give me a beast of a defensive line, and a great secondary, and watch how the linebacker play suddenly improves.
