Davenport on IR
Well, the OL has taken another hit. Davenport sent to IR after getting injured in practice. Looks like J'Marcus Webb is next man up...
Re: Davenport on IR
The club is expected to insert recently signed J’Marcus Webb, a distant cousin to former Dolphins offensive tackle Richmond Webb, to take Davenport’s spot in the starting lineup. The club also must find a backup tackle to take to the game in case either Webb or starting left tackle Jesse Davis are injured -- a role Webb filled in the season-opener.
And the frustrating thing about this entire episode is it was indirectly caused by the Dolphins’ significantly flawed roster.
Davenport, you see, probably wouldn’t have even been in the practice repetition in which he was injured except for the fact a young player who took the previous repetition performed poorly. And coaches yanked that player -- who probably doesn’t belong on the roster -- out and inserted Davenport back in, per sources.
Davenport then suffered the injury when a defender hit the lineman’s leg.
So the Miami offensive line remains in turmoil.
Davenport, primarily a left tackle for the Texans, was moved to right tackle where he started the season-opener against Baltimore.
Starting right tackle Jesse Davis, moved from right guard during training camp, was moved again after Tunsil was traded. He is now the starting left tackle.
Did we mention the Dolphins also acquired guard Danny Isidora from Minnesota six days prior to the game and he also started -- taking the right guard spot rookie Shaq Calhoun held all preseason?
Webb was then added to the unit only three days prior to Sunday’s game. In a huddle during practice on the Friday before the opener, starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had to introduce himself to Webb.

the current Phins' regime did this to themselves. and the same thing could be starting to happen on the defense with Ledbetter's injury and Minkah wanting out. this crew made its bed and must now lie in it.

This was always going to be an issue this season, especially early on. It's a result of the cap clean-up and roster purge. Had to be done, but it's ugly. It'll take a few weeks to get settled, which unfortunately coincides with a brutal opening schedule.

Rough ride boys. Just hold on and let it play out. No shame.

I'd just like to know what Flores is doing in practice to get more players injured than during the games.

No shame for us is what I think you meant. There should be plenty of it among those involved.

LOL
For the coaches maybe...
A player can only do what he is asked to do. Plugging in a new RT after three days on the roster is sort of ludicrous.
In any event...yeah I am starting to get the sense Flores is trying to do things the same way Bill Belichek does.
Belichek has the reputation and respect that makes the players "buy in" immediately. Flores, after the way this team has been put together
just does not have the clout necessary to get an instant buy in IMO.
I think THAT may be a large part of what is not working...besides the obvious sub-par roster talent and the continually changing O-line.
Shula used to say "Plan on 1 loss for every rookie you start." It must be two or three losses for every undrafted rookie you start, right?

Under the best of coaching circumstances, the talent on this team is 4 wins at best.

Funny you should say that, considering the '07 Fins actually, based on point differential, should have won 4 games even with Cam. It's called Pythagorean wins.
And that team would curbstomp this one. Especially since Flores makes Cam look like early 70s Shula.

It's early, but yep, right now it sure looks like we are headed to 0-16 and the #1 overall pick.
Re: Davenport on IR
Our only hope to win a game right now is bad weather with a lot of luck, or after all the vets get "injuries" or just flat out quit and are benched, the kids manage to show just enough to eek one out against someone who has a bad game against us.

Re: Davenport on IR
We'll need a couple of special teams and defensive scores to win a game. That, and a whole helluva lot of luck!
