Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Turkey and all the fixings were fantastic. Football, not so much.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
The Raiders winning did this team no favors. And the Saints apparently suck more than I thought.
Also, I found out Brady's new nickname is "Tampa Tom", which is something I really didn't need to know.
My sister always has the TV on either ESPN or the Hallmark channel. I did get to be dragged to my younger nephew's basketball practice at 9 AM Friday morning. He got a swollen eye from getting elbowed in the face (accidentally I think) which I somehow missed despite my sister insisting we stay for the entire 2-hour practice. I was wondering why he spent the last 10 minutes or so holding his face. He shrugged it off just fine afterwards and was his usual self the rest of the day, though.
On the bright side the food was fantastic and I got to see pretty much al my nephew's football games on the big screen. It was better than the actual football on TV TBH. He's the QB and patterns his game after Patrick Mahomes. Older nephew is 15 now and has learned how to drive with no problem apparently, although I didn't get a chance to have him chauffeur me around. His voice *finally* changed, which actually makes me a little sad. They're not my little boobahs anymore

When Trevor Siemian is your starting QB, you're pretty much done before opening kickoff.

Suckeyes and Sooners lost, Fins won, I'm having a happy post-Thanksgiving for sure
Also, my nephew had another basketball practice and things went better for him this time. On Friday I had thought there would only be one team and he'd be stuck on the bench and hardly play all season but it turns out there's a JV middle school team so he'll be on that and play a lot after all. It'll be good for him, he needs some humbling TBH. This team he's practicing with now isn't a school team but some sort of all-star team that he got picked for so somebody must've thought highly of him. He actually feels bad because he beat out one of his friends for a spot.

Last year he was the point guard of his team but also led them in scoring, which if you know anything about basketball is *really* hard to do. Until now he's always been the best player on his teams by far, but now things aren't that way anymore and he was sulking about it a bit. Before the Friday practice he was griping about not having any playing time and I told him if he wanted to play he needed to impress the coaches in practice. Friday, he did not. Then his dad told him the exact same thing I did (without knowing I had) and suddenly my sister thought it was profound, go figure
You should've seen his football games, though. In one game he and his team were playing 9th graders (he's in 7th grade) were dwarfed in size at every position, fell behind 14-0, and still won he and his football coach have a great relationship apparently after starting off on the wrong foot so maybe the same thing can happen in hoops. He can certainly throw on the run, I know that much. He also doesn't panic and always throw to his first read at the slightest pressure but tries to keep the play alive as long as he can.
