Here it is...

Let the textual floggings commence.\

Very Happy

My Fanspeak "On The Clock" draft

13: R1P13 DE DEFOREST BUCKNER OREGON
42: R2P11 CB ARTIE BURNS MIAMI (FLA.)
73: R3P10 RB ALEX COLLINS ARKANSAS
107: R4P9 OLB ERIC STRIKER OKLAHOMA
147: R5P8 G CONNOR MCGOVERN MISSOURI
186: R6P11 ILB ANTONIO MORRISON FLORIDA
27: R7P6 TE JAKE MCGEE FLORIDA
231: R7P10 QB BRANDON ALLEN ARKANSAS

1st - I sincerely doubt Buckner lasts until #13, but...

2nd - You do this a few times, it gives you a newfound respect for just how hard it is to draft ACCURATELY. At some point you just have to go with your gut and pick a guy you "THINK" can make the transition to the NFL...BETTER than the other guy you would also love to take with this pick.

3rd - I sincerely doubt Tannebaum is even going to LOOK at some of the guys I picked.

4th - I came close to going with Vadal Alexander G from LSU in the 3rd, but Collins was ranked just a few spots below, and if we assume Tannebaum thinks OG is well manned already....Collins would not have made it to the 4th round the way the draft programming was picking IMO. Based on the FanSpeak Big Board grades.

5th - Unless it is a 1st round pick, I doubt Tannebaum is going to draft a LB. I get the impression, they think the young guys can fill in??

I would say you got lucky that Buckner and Burns were even available for you to pick at all. Can't really comment on the rest, although I guarantee you had more LB and guard picks than the real Fins will. This draft at least shows more awareness of the team's weaknesses than I suspect Tannenbaum will have--by a long shot.

The top three picks alone make this an A draft!

Buckner looks like an ideal 3-4 DE to me, but I think he could also fit at 4-3 given his pass rush ability.  I think Tannenbaum would be drooling if Buckner was available at 13!

Artie Burns and Alex Collins - hell yeah!  Though I doubt Collins will get out of the 3nd round.

Striker is inriguing because he was unbelievably productive in college, but he's very small.  I don't think he fits the LB mold for Tannenbaum.  Might be interesting to see if he could play safety...

Morrison is another interesting prospect.  He's a natural leader and hits like a truck, but he has a knee injury and some off-field incidents on his resume.  On the field, he's a tough, hard-nosed football player - no doubt.  Without the question marks, I'd be all over him - and he'd be a great value in the 6th assuming all the negatives check out.

Yes, as another recent post points out, MORE PICKS would be a good thing.

At 13, unless someone really falls, or Tannenbaum does want Ragland, or maybe Conklin, trading down for more picks in the 2nd and 3rd would be a good idea.

There are a PILE of players that could help the Phins that are going to be long goneafter the 3rd IMO.

The question remains: Does Tannenbaum think the Phins are close, or is he rebuilding? My guess is he cannot avoid trying to (re)build a champion in one season. So maybe the Tannehill contract and Suh contract have been good from THAT perspective; holding Tannenbaum back from paying way too much for free agents.

But that doesn't mean he will not go for THE PLAYER MOVE in the draft that will make Miami a champion!

Or am I mis-reading Tannenbaum?
