Seems like just surface-level analysis with no real evidence to back-up why Tannehill will sudddenly "jump into the top tiers of the quarterback position in 2016."

Ryan Tannehill is entering his fifth season in the league and despite average at best finishes for his Dolphins, Tannehill has been great statistically.

He has??? I must have missed that. Tannehill has been among the league's worst QBs in key situations the last couple of years: 4th quarter, 3rd down, red zone. Fact is, statistically he's been completely awful in those areas - and those are areas that separate the men from the boys when it comes to the QB position. I honestly have no idea if he'll improve enough in those key areas to become a top QB, but I am certainly not expecting it.

As I've said many times, I think Tannehill is what he is at this stage of his career, and I don't expect him to get significantly better or worse than what we've seen from him so far. He's a decent QB, nothing more nothing less. Unfortunately, "decent" simply isn't enough in today's NFL.

Maybe he proves me wrong and has a stellar, All Pro season...but I won't hold my breath waiting.

I'll also say that Tannehill is way overdue for a serious injury playing behind this crappy OL. Hope I'm wrong about that too.

Seriously. It's entirely possible that Tannehill has peaked. However, it sounds like accuracy can be traced to his footwork in the pocket and footwork can be improved.

Probably the best glimmer of hope for fans is that Gase will revive and improve the running game, both through scheme and playcalling. When we get in tight (red zone), running the ball is critical and we absolutely failed during previous seasons.

Same goes for 3rd and long and 4th quarter. An effective running game can keep us out of bad down and distance situations, and keep the defense from pinning their ears back in the 4th quarter.

All this will help Tannehill. The worse thing to do, if you recognize a quarterbacks weakness, is to force him into situations where the probability for success is low. Play to his strengths, hide his weaknesses.

Philbin was probably trying to force the issue on demonstrating Tannys faults and getting someone new, he obviously failed. Plus, quarterbacks are hard to find, it's easy to say we want the perfect one, much harder to execute. Ask 22 of the 32 franchises across the league they'll tell you.

Yep, when you have a QB that struggles in key situations, a running game is key.  I'm not sold on our OL or RBs, but I do think Gase will at least stay committed to running the ball.  Even when it's not working, running the ball can keep a defense honest, and also you never know when a back will break a huge run - especially in the second half when the D starts to tire.  Lazor had no understanding of the running game at all, and it was a huge factor in our crappy offense last season.

Like I said, I don't expect Tannehill's weaknesses to disappear, but if you can at least hide them a bit, that will help the offense.

I'm real interested to see how Tannehill responds to an offense that runs through him and puts all the responsibility on his shoulders.  Philbin/Lazor clearly didn't trust Tannehill enough to take the training wheels off, but Gase's offense requires a quick-thinking, decisive, take-the-bull-by-the-horns QB - and we should know fairly quickly if Tannehill is up to the challenge.

And right now, that QB is not on the roster.

Also, it'l be hard to commit to running when all the RBs suck. Everybody loves to talk about the loss of Vernon, but letting Miller walk will be ten times more damaging. It figures, the Fins finally get a coach who would've finally given Miller the carries he deserves, and he leaves. Bleh.

Yeah, I tend to agree with all those points.

Tannehill needs to grow a pair, that's for sure.

SHOW ME - NO MORE TALKING.

Yes, losing Miller is going to be much worse than losing Vernon's 15 yards a game for low hits and almost-made-a-plays.

That is true. I don't trust that Ajayi will be a all down back and the durability of others isn't that good either.
