Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
Taco to the Boys. I thought they'd take Willis.
I'm calling it now, Taco will be a bust. Big, but slow and lackluster. His CEILING may be Jared Odrick
Willis is a great prospect, and he definitely goes somewhere in the second. If he somehow falls all the way to our pick, would love to see us double down on the DE spot. ALL of ours are aging, or average, or both.

Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
The more "film" I watch on Harris, the more I like him. His moves are really refined, spin particularly. He was up against SEC talent with Missouri and he's done some pretty impressive stuff against much heavier dudes.
My issue is his motivation. I've seen a lot of people saying he has the talent but doesn't give a shit. That could very well equally be false, as well as true.
I hope he's Jason Taylor 2.0.

He'll never be JT - he's too short and he'll never be the all-around player JT was. JT was a master at batting down passes, forcing fumbles, getting INTs, scoring TDs - and he was stout against the run. None of that applies to Harris. IMO Cam Wake is a much better comparison as Harris's ceiling - but I think Harris is more of a role player than an every-down player...at least until he adds bulk and strength.

regardless of how I feel about our pick , last night was the best first round I've ever watched. Absolutely loved it.

Agreed. It was fun and exciting, and there were more quality players drafted than I ever remember in round one. A lot of action - trades, great crowd shots, etc. - and of course, Tak!
Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
Damn, who do we want tonight? IMO this is where bpa can really pay off - let's get a football player whatever the hell position they play

With all the great corners and safeties in this draft, I think a DB is the way to go in round two. Then maybe a guard in round 3. And while we can't go wrong with a BPA approach in this draft...I really don't want another WR! LOL

I can't agree with that more. Any philosophy can be taken too far. Do we dare hope for an Ajayi - Parker trade?!?!

Not sure if I'll get to watch the draft live from the beginning tonight, but I will DVR it and will try to get online after I catch up.
Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
Ignore all those who say Harris doesn't give a shit about football or has poor worth ethic as it is far from true. The guy can play, has room to improve, and is highly motivated. I think he'll be a good player for us. Only time will tell. He was one of the players I was hoping the Fins might take but I'll admit as the team was on the clock I was wanting Rueben Foster.

I agree with you totally Killah, with a small exception.
It was clear to me after the Davis selection, that Foster is totally damaged goods.
It matches up with the scouting reports I read on Foster, which essentially sum up as: "He is really good but man he is beat to sh!T"
How long do you think he lasts in the NFL banging heads with fast, physical offensive players?

Did the Bills just take another receiver? LOL!
Man its a well respected franchise but damn they are making some bad picks. For the record, I like their selection of White in round 1, but this, this is too much.

Being a TOSU fan and seeing Mcmillian play for 3 years I'm Very Happy. He is a sure tackler with thump, Kiper bitching about pass coverage but he didn't do it that much and he has the speed to do it.

Like most Ohio State defenders he'll be a better pro than college player.

Ran a 4.61 forty too so he has plenty of speed at 240 lbs.

Zay Jones was an outstanding pick. The Bills are killing it so far. Watkins and Jones is an amazing 1-2 receiving corps for the Bills. They desperately needed another receiver and they got a great one - maybe best in class. Love the pick for them.
As for McMillan, he's a decent player...but if he's going to be the SAM LB that means he's only going to play 25% of the time at most in this defense. A DB that plays every down would have been a much better value IMO. McMillan is also awful in coverage, but at least he'll help against the run.
I guess I like the pick...but I definitely don't love it, and IMO we left much better talent on the board.
Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
You will like him soon enough not a doubt in my mind on him. They might protect him some at the beginning but before long he will be a 3 down player in my opinion.

The Phins don't use the SAM LB on passing downs, so most likely he won't be a 3-down player unless they move him around. What concerns me most with this pick is that we now have three LBs that are all awful in coverage. The Patriots will continue to feast on this defense. Hopefully we can at least add a centerfielder-type safety at some point.
Just annoying to me that the Phins are targeting one-dimensional players when there are so many well-rounded, dynamic players in this draft. Harris and McMillan aren't bad by any means - both can be good players, maybe very good - but like I said, we left better players on the board both times IMO.
Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
Still on the board: Caleb Brantley, Dorian Johnson, Cordea Tankersley. I imagine Tankersley will be the pick.

Nice call, Hal! Tank is my favorite Phins pick so far. Real solid player, and a perfect fit for this D. He's a bit handsy, but hopefully the coaches can teach him better technique. He'll be an upgrade over Maxwell and Lippett, maybe immediately.
Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
Yeah, I like Tankersley at 97. Very solid value.
Just wish we had traded down in round one with (say) Atlanta, we'd have an extra pick and could have grabbed Johnson too, another very good value at this point IMO.

Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
Does anyone besides me think that we are already looking to the future based on the free agent signings and the draft?
It just seems that we could've got an impact player in round 1 had we gone BPA(Njoku). And a trade option to get supporting players later. Imho these players are not going to play significant enough to make an impact this year.
I would have been pleased with Peppers because Allen is on a 1 yr tryout and McDonald on an 8 game tryout which is the equivalent to an NBA 10 day contract. Peppers would have been a day one starter in my opinion

Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
Well, the first two picks are essentially part-time players - Harris as a pass rush specialist and McMillan as a SAM that won't see the field much. They certainly fill needs, but I'm not sure how much better each player really makes us. Tank, at least, is a guaranteed every-down starter - maybe some time in his rookie year.
But yes - these are all picks to replace vets that will likely be gone next year: Harris replaces Wake, McMillan replaces Misi, and Tank replaces Maxwell. That's great - but again, I thought better options were available with the first 2 picks.

Re: LIVE DRAFT THREAD
I have to agree. Miami didn't do well in the first round and for the fact they are trying to better within the second and third doesn't make too much sense to me.
