Decided To Post This Here
Because it's kinda sorta Fins-related.
The Packers have just fired Mike McCarthy, for the cardinal sin of losing to the 2-win Cardinals at home. Philbin will coach them the rest of the season. This is not fake news.

Now someone please tell me, why couldn't Ross have fired Gase after the Colts game again?

Even winning a Super Bowl doesn't make one immune to a midseason firing on a good team, if the team has completely tuned the coach out.
Pretty sad situation when a team thinks that Joe Philbin might give them a midseason spark.

Having said that, McCarthy will probably do very well in his next stop, and I'd love to have him here. Even with his clock management flaws he'd be our best coach in two decades easily.

Gase knows what to say to keep his job. If the excuse sounds good enough to keep him around Ross will allow it.

Sadly, we'll see another good coach get hired somewhere else while we stick with Dead End Gase - who will probably get fired next season anyway.
I think McCarthy will go to Cleveland and help build a winner.

If Gase is smart, he will BEG McCarthy to come in as our OC - assuming he fails to land a head coaching gig.
Gase must admit that his offense, and his playcalling, are NOT WORKING. There's been excuse, after excuse, after excuse, and yet the offense continues to rank nearly last in the league with all meaningful stats, including points scored.
Admitting he has a problem is the first step...

Philbin, when asked about how he feels now that he's been tasked with turning around a poor season with a perennial contender like Green Bay and a Hall of Fame caliber QB in Rodgers: "To be honest, I feel a little queasy about it."

McCarthy could not do any worse than Gase IMO.
As bad as the Packers drafting has been, and McCarthy had Rodgers to fall back on, can you imagine what a shyteshow it would be with McCarthy with the Phins execrable drafting and personnel decisions, and with Tannehill at QB!!!
Egad! That might be enough to end professional football as we know it!
