Could we make this possible...

This hurt the LB core the most for the fact that he was out of position means that he allowed yards which allowed points which made it hard for the offense to score.

This team already has over $13.5 million in dead money mostly thanks to the Suh release. I just don't see how they can afford to more than double that unless they just go ultra-cheap and have around 20 rookies on the team next season. Most of the current expensive contracts aren't just bad deals, they're also long deals.

Cut as much dead wood as possible this offseason and absorb the dead $ now - so we can free up cap space for the coming years.
Cutting Alonso would be my first order of business if I was in charge, followed by Quinn and Branch. Jones and McDonald are the tricky ones...gonna be real difficult to move either one. Awful contracts.

Agree on the safeties. I think the staff will devise a couple special packages on the defense where both can be on the field at the same time. Thinking big dime in passing situations or something.
However, in base nickel Fitzpatrick needs to play FS, Jones at SS and McCain at slot corner. McDondald will be an expensive backup.
In a year or two we can cut one or both. For now just get what you can from them.

Yep, that makes sense. It would be great to dump both safeties now, but the team is pretty much handcuffed with those horrible contracts.
