On the eve of the draft
Well, we are less than 24 hours away from what just might be the most important draft in Miami Dolphins franchise history.
Flores and the Dolphins staff are attempting to build a team that can contend year in and year out, something that lasts and is sustainable for the long-term. And step one is drafting a QB. Not just any QB, but the right QB.
I have no idea what the Dolphins intend to do tomorrow night. But with 3 first round picks, they have the ammo to do whatever they want - and most importantly to get the QB they want. As much as I favor Tua, I honestly don't care if it's Burrow, Tua, Herbert or Love...just get it right. Whoever they choose, I will support and pray that he will develop into the franchise QB that finally leads us to greatness.
Buckle up - it should be a wild ride!
GO PHINS!!!!

Yes, whoever they pick, let them be amazing. We've all suffered enough around here.

I don't have anywhere to go tomorrow (for a change) so I'll be here, at least until the first pick. If Grier botches it though I might just nope out for the night.

Re: On the eve of the draft
This is such a crap shot. Tua has the talent and leadership and should've been the #1 pick. He can be a franchise QB or due to injuries never play a down. Herbert could be a 10-15 year QB or a 1st round bust.
Do we take a top position player to fill a hole or chance the QB?
1st round should be fun for Fin's fan I just hope there is not stupid panic trade.

Re: On the eve of the draft
Rumors swirling that the Lions and Phins have already agreed to a trade to swap picks #3 and 5. Of course, the rumor was started by Armando so take it with a grain of salt.
Armando was the man when Tannenbaum was in Miami...he clearly had a source inside the building. But ever since Tannenbaum left, Armando has become a great source for bullshit and misinformation.
If this trade does go down, the Phins better damn well take a QB at 3!!!

Re: On the eve of the draft
I had a dream early this morning that the Giants drafted a right tackle at 4. Didn't get a name, but I assume it was Jedrick Wills.
And then at 5, the Phins selected...Tua!!!!
I don't claim to be able to tell the future, so take it for what it's worth...wishful thinking or a premonition???

Re: On the eve of the draft
While we're talking dreams, here's my last firstpick try beforehand. Traded down twice and think that this is as close to a dream draft as it gets:
Round 1 Pick 18: Jedrick Wills Jr., OT, Alabama (A+)
Round 1 Pick 20 (JAX): Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama (A+)
Round 1 Pick 22 (MINN): Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville (A)
Round 1 Pick 25 (MINN): A.J. Epenesa, DE/OLB, Iowa (A)
Round 1 Pick 26: Kenneth Murray, ILB/OLB, Oklahoma (A)
Round 1 Pick 31 (S.F.): Grant Delpit, FS/SS, LSU (A+)
Round 2 Pick 7: Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin (A+)
Round 2 Pick 24: Ross Blacklock, DT, TCU (A+)
Round 3 Pick 6: Antoine Winfield Jr., FS/SS, Minnesota (A+)
Round 4 Pick 35 (COMP): Logan Stenberg, OG, Kentucky (A+)
Round 4 Pick 39 (PHI): Kevin Dotson, OG, Louisiana (A+)
Round 5 Pick 27: Lynn Bowden Jr., WR, Kentucky (A+)
Round 6 Pick 14 (IND): Lavert Hill, CB, Michigan (A+)
Round 6 Pick 18 (IND): Evan Weaver, ILB/OLB, California (A+)

Re: On the eve of the draft
Rumor is that Miami is trying to get the #3 while keeping 5. I not sure if that would happen but that would be crazy

For the past few days I have thought this to be nonsense because of the cost it would be to move up from 18 to 3. Believing that they would be looking at QB and OT, my thinking was it'd be cheaper to draft the QB at 5 and move up from 18 to get one of the four top OTs.
But I now realize that it's more likely than I believed a few days ago that they will have to move up for their QB. So maybe moving up the one time would cost the same as moving up twice? I don't know the charts well enough to know this. And even if a little more expensive, they'd get their guys this way so I'm for it if this is the route they go. Even if they would take Simmons at #5 instead of an OT.

Re: On the eve of the draft
One thing I know: Grier loves to wheel and deal and has tons of picks to play with - so I expect the Phins to make at least a few trades throughout the draft. The only question is when the trades will happen!
Re: On the eve of the draft
If Miami does move up to #3, I would be made if they passed up on Isaiah Simmons. Miami needs a player that can play everywhere on defense.
