Phins hosting UFA CB Zack Bowman
i'm still new, so i can't post a link yet, but you can find the full post in Armando's blog
ideally, the Phins see him as boundary depth or a temporary veteran place holder while a high-round rookie draft pick develops.

He is a 6-foot-1, 30-year-old, seven-year, three-team veteran.
He has started 12 games for the Giants and Bears the past two years and had five interceptions in that time so he is capable of jumping up to the starting 11 in a pinch. He had a short stint with Minnesota also in 2012.

Bowman has good ball skills, and he's a decent tackler. I'd definitely like to add him for depth. Hell, he might even earn a starting job if given the opportunity.
Just have to wonder why no team has signed him yet. His career has certainly been decent enough to get a deal. He was with the Giants last season, and they don't have a great secondary to begin with...wonder why they didn't want to keep him?

perhaps considering his age, he's looking for a little longer term deal or more money than teams have been willing to offer him at this point in his career.

I think the Giants are going in a different direction with a lot of players, and they're getting younger (at least they're trying to) so they may not be down with what Bowman is asking money-wise. I don't know with the Giants. A buddy of mine is a huge Giants fan and he can't see what they're trying to accomplish right now. That said, we're all kind of in the same boat until the draft.

The Phins signed Bowman to a one-year deal.
I just talked to my next-door neighbor who is a huge Giants fan. He said that he thought Bowman was very good on STs for the Giants.

Good signing for depth and special teams, one year deal. No problems with it.

Yep, good signing.
If Bowman looks good on both D and STs, I think he could steal Will Davis's job...seems like they both play the same role. I'm not a Davis fan at all, so that would work for me!

If it could help get rid of Davis than I'm all for it, Davis might be My New Jimmy Wilson someone I'm dying to see go somewhere else.

I may be the only Davis fan here. I'm not a Taylor fan. At least Davis does make plays.

I'm not as concerned with Taylor and Davis' talent as much as I am about their lack of durability. Either way I'm not pleased with either.

I know Davis had a few, maybe a lot of flags on him, but, more times than not, it seemed at least he was always around the ball and was defending quite a few. At least in pre-season, that was the case.

Re: Phins hosting UFA CB Zack Bowman
Davis has above average ball skills - no doubt about that. That's what's keeping him on the team, along with his special teams play.
Problem is, he can't handle speed receivers and he often gets lost in coverage after about 10 yards or so. He's very sloppy technique-wise, IMO. And of course, he can't seem to stay healthy.
