I wonder if you would have started a thread if he threw 5 TDs in OTAs?

We all have to acknowledge the fact that Tua is under a huge microscope. Every pass he throws in OTAs, minicamps, training camp and preseason is going to be dissected and analyzed to the Nth degree.

Buckle up, going to be one hell of a ride!

Nah, I ain't worried about Tua. He will either be a very good game manager QB type or turn into the QB that made Nick Saban bench his starting QB Jalen Hurts. Or somewhere in between the two.

BTW, from what I've read, some interesting things about the INTs:
--Practice was held during a torrential downpour, with as one person described it, "buckets of rain" falling non-stop.
--The coaches wanted to work specifically on deep passes thrown into tight windows.
--One of the INTs was off of a drop by Gesicki, probably due to the wet ball.

It all adds up to "nothing to see here"...it's OTAs. But if anything, my takeaway is that I'm overjoyed that the defense managed to get 5 INTs - without Xavien Howard.

What's funny about that pic is that Herbert doesn't look big at all. He looks pretty average, especially the toothpick legs.  If anything, I'd say that in the recent pics I've seen of Tua, our QB has more muscular arms and legs than the big man in San Diego.

I read they were working on Tua being more aggressive downfield. They want Tua throwing more downfield. Apparently big muscles don't help downfield accuracy but maybe he can convert to TE and play for Jacksonville?

I'm with Jmp on this one. Also, Herbert needs to drop whatever that attempt at facial hair is, it makes him look like a 40something sex offender.

But it is quite disturbing all the same to read about how great other QBs in his age range are looking right now, including that Wilson guy the Jets drafted.

What happens if Tua doesn't improve or even (gasp) REGRESSES this season? I hear the next QB class is...not good.

He threw two other interceptions Wednesday and has seven in six camp practices. Six of the picks have come during the three practice sessions in pads, when play is most competitive.

This is not meant to compare Tua to Mahomes...it is only to show that INTs in practice happen - even to the best QB in the league.

Just like with Howard sitting out... I am not worried about Tua's performance in OTAs.

Along about the 3rd preseason game if he is still playing like a game manager and not showing the deep passing he did at Bama...then...I will start to worry.

Right now, the more reps and deep passes he tries, the better. If he completes more of them than he doesn't and has more TDs than INTs... the better.

But just like with former offseason HOFer Kirby DarDar, when the pads go on is when it really counts. All that OTAs crapola don't mean diddly.

Basically coaches told Tua last years play isn't acceptable and he needs to stretch the field. You would think he would already understand that after playing and practicing for a year in the system.

It's a fair question, and we are all scarred from the 7 consecutive "make or break years" for Ryan Tannehill. In fact, Titans fans are probably eagerly awaiting 2021 as a "make or break" year for Tanny

Will Tua get this year? My thinking is "yes" but it's not an unqualified yes. Clearly, if he struggles so badly and fails to improve (again, I see this as highly unlikely) - then Flores would likely bench him and plan to upgrade next offseason. So... it's *possible* sure, that Tua WON'T get a full season to prove himself.

More than likely, he gets this year and next to prove he's the future. If I were to place a wager on it, that would be my bet. But there are scenarios where he either silences all doubters, or convinces the front office he will never be the long term answer. I think those are outliers.
