Dolphins sign RB Raheem Mostert
Love it! He's obviously got experience in this offense and when healthy he's a hell of a player. Great 1-2 punch with Edmonds and Mostert!

It's just a one-year, $3.125 million contract. Smart move to bring in a vet that knows the system.

Concerned that he may not have much in the tank after the injuries, but should be a nice complement to Edmonds.

Yes, but the good news is his injury last year happened early so he should be good to go for the start of this season. Also, the one year cheap deal makes me think that they will have a backup plan - likely a draft pick IMO.
Whenever you are implementing a new system, it's always a good idea to have at least one player that knows it well, so I really like this signing for that reason alone. And if he can stay healthy, we've got a damn good back.

Same article in the Herald mentions there is still interest in Duke Johnson, but have not agreed to terms. I like him more than Gaskin, I think an Edmonds - Mostert - Johnson rushing attack would be a very good one. And they all insure each other against injury, because they will all get snaps and rushes.

I think they need a big back as well.
Somebody to soak up some punishment on early run downs.
Be nice if it was a FAST big back as well.
I will be SHOCKED...Shocked I say... if the Phins use an early pick on a RB.
I would be happy, but still, nevertheless, shocked.

Agree on all counts.
Some guys that may interest the Phins and could be around in rounds 3-4 include:
-- Ty Chandler and Pierre Strong aren't huge, but both are about 5'11", 205 and ran sub-4.4 40s at the Combine.
-- Zamir White ran a 4.42 at 6', 214
-- Dameon Pierce ran just under 4.6, which is a good time for a 218 pounder.
-- Brian Robinson's 4.53 40 was outstanding for a 6'2", 225 lb back - but he seems like more of a straight ahead runner...not sure he fits what we'll be looking for.
I fear that James Cook could be off the Dolphins' radar now since he is sort of redundant to Chase Edmonds, but you never know. That is the type of back McDaniel seems to love from a speed and skillset perspective.

I have been looking at D'Vontae Price after you mentioned him, JMP.
Zander Horvath and Quay Holmes as well. I think Price might get a little rise before the draft and go higher than the 7th, but Horvath and Holmes the Phins could get in the 7th I think.

I do like Price - he has some nice skills.
Horvath is a beast of a fullback, and can also run and catch the ball pretty well. I read somewhere that he could potentially run a 40 in under 4.6 at Purdue's Pro Day. That would be exceptional for a 235 lb. back!

Horvath could be taken earlier by a team using a FB. He's pretty much the consensus best prospect at that position. I could see him going late 5th or early 6th for that reason.
