Fin's vs Panthers Game Day

Heading to a NJ Devil's Team Autograph session at 11:30 so I will have to watch the game on my phone and hurry home to finish watching the game.
Lot's of injuries but the Fins should win this game.

I don't think the Phins should take ANY team for granted.

The Phins should win, but Tua's ugly arse INTs last game have me sort of worried!!

When Tua is Bama-Tua, good for the Phins, but when he is Bad-Tua....

Panthers are playing bad. It sounds like the owner is another Snyder, Irsay, type owner and doesn't know enough to stop fouling things up.

Agreed concentrated on Fangio but the players are not playing better. Ramsey getting injured hurt because Kahuo and Apple suck. Need a MLB.

To be fair, they have been destroying the Panthers since pulling their heads out of their asses at the end of the first quarter.

Rough start but solid win with the excepting of Mike FU White.

Reminds me of '96 when the 1-15 Jets went up 14-0 in both games VS the Fins before losing.

IMO I actually like that it happened, and I LOVED the Fins' response. I could've done without the Mike White pick six but this team needs to be kept humble as much as possible without a losing streak.

Another game off the top of my head similar to this was the 5-0 Fins falling behind the 0-5 Pats 10-0 at home in '92 before winning 38-17. Then again, I'd rather not think about what happened to that team *after* reaching 6-0

I look at the 49ers losing--when I legit thought they'd go 20-0--and the Chiefs gumming their way past a Broncos team that got 70 hung on them by this one and...I just can't get upset about this win. If anything, winning by 21 after falling behind 14-0 is damn impressive. That's what a playoff team does. It doesn't mean the Fins are all of a sudden title contenders, but it's a step towards maybe being that sooner than later.

Gotta get healthy and avoid the big loss. Team is playing great and winning but they can still improve which is scary.

Our schedule hasn't been bad yet. The teams we've played are mostly cupcakes. The Bills smacked us upside the head. Overall I'm not sure where we are as a team yet because we've mostly played mismatched games. 

Giants, Pats, Broncos, Panthers isn't a great resume for strength of schedule. Is that a 3-17 schedule?

Good point Carson. BUT...

We destroyed the Giants, and as I type this they are beating the Bills 9-7 in the 4th quarter in Buffalo.

We destroyed the Broncos, and they almost beat the Chiefs in KC. The Chiefs scored 1 TD against the Broncos - we scored 10.

We beat the Patriots convincingly - and they beat a Jets team that has wins over the Bills and Eagles.

The Panthers...I got nothing. They suck.

So yeah, we have beaten up on bad teams - but our competition for the AFC crown has played very poorly against those same bad teams. The Bills loss will haunt us till week 18, but in the meantime we are stacking wins and dominating every other team we face.

Even I, the Potentate Of Pessimism, don't want to see anybody complaining about the wins or the schedule. Not when teams like the Bills, Chiefs, Eagles, etc. play most of the same opponents. It reminds me of '08 when people bashed and trashed this team for improving by 10 games and winning the division with an easy schedule--which it was--while completely ignoring that one, the Pats were a whopping five games worse without Brady and two, at that time every other AFC East team played 14 games against the same teams! The Fins were even 0-2 VS the teams the other three didn't play so no advantage was gained there. I will be making a post about this shortly.

You have to judge each team game to game, week to week IMO.

The Bills can look like a juggernaut one week and then look like cold poop on a paper plate the next.

Maybe...maybe the slow start versus the Panthers will help the Phins when they are playing tougher competition.

Hopefully, the Phins offense IS VERY GOOD, and will be able to run the ball, and can outscore the other team enough to win some games against good teams.

Usually, when the Opposing Defense is big and bad and punches the Phins' finesse offense in the mouth, they hand over their lunch money and sob waiting for the bully to leave or give them another Atomic Wedgie!

Let's hope McD has learned some things from the Bills game and has adjusted the gameplan.

And the Eagles don't hang 70 on this Fangio Defense!

For this to work, the defensive line and pass rush have to be a constant threat. Witness the Jets defense just yesterday: They were missing several starters in the secondary including their top corner (Gardner) - yet they held a great offense down and ultimately won the game. This was possible because their front 7 is playing at a playoff level. Good against the run, and constantly harassing Hurts - who could not do much damage with his running OR passing.

The silver lining for the Fins is currently we lead the league in QB hits, and are 2nd in sacks. However, we know most of that was done against the weaker/younger QBs on our schedule.

Phillips is not yet 100% due to the time he missed to injury. Van Ginkel is picking up the slack. And I was encouraged by Chubb getting one yesterday. All is not lost. But this would be a GREAT WEEK to see our defense take another step forward against a very good offense.
