Phins sign OL J'Marcus Webb, place Andrew Van Ginkel on IR

Webb, 31, will be playing for his sixth NFL team. He only played one game last season before the Colts placed him in on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He started that game at right tackle, and did so for most of his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks in 2016.

As for Van Ginkel, the Dolphins’ fifth-round pick has been bothered by a lingering foot injury since the second week of training camp. He’ll be eligible to return at midseason as the NFL allows two players to come off injured reserve after week eight.

Van Ginkel, a former Wisconsin standout, didn’t play in a preseason game because of his injury and had been limited during practice this week.

The Dolphins had envisioned using Van Ginkel as a pass-rushing specialist, primarily coming onto the field on passing downs. That role is now up for grabs between newcomers Avery Moss, Vince Biegel, Trent Harris, Deon Lacey and James Crawford, who were all added this week, either via trade, free-agent signing or waiver-wire claim.
