UGH - Xavien Howard arrested for domestic battery

Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard was arrested Sunday night on domestic violence charges.

According to the police report provided to the Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins’ Pro Bowl cornerback and his fiance got into a verbal argument about the recent purchase of a purse that wasn’t disclosed and the altercation became physical when the defendant grabbed her arm and pushed her back up against a mirrored glass wall in the hallway of their bedroom.

The defendant then let her go, causing her to fall to the floor on her right arm, which landed on his crutches.

The defendant had physical scratches and redness on her right wrist and forearm.

Howard complained of knee pain according to the police report, and was transported to the BSO jail by Davie Fire Rescue.

Howard has missed most of the Dolphins’ 2020 season because of a knee issue that was surgically repaired earlier this month. He’s been walking with the assistance of crutches for the past few weeks.

Howard will likely be given a stay away order from the victim, and the state attorney’s office will determine if they have enough evidence to file charges and prosecute the NFL player.

But no matter the league process taken the NFL will investigate the incident and Howard likely will face a suspension because the league has taken a firm stance against domestic violence.

In late December, Howard allegedly engaged in a verbal argument with the mother of his three children, grabbed her and pushed her against a mirrored glass wall.

The prosecutor spoke with the alleged victim in the Howard case and her attorney earlier this week and the victim said she did not want to proceed with prosecution.

The woman told prosecutors the situation “got out of hand” and she has no fear of Howard and no fear for her safety. There were no other witnesses to the incident and prosecutors said they were unable to proceed without testimony.

The NFL can conduct its own investigation and Howard is still subject to league discipline.

First of all, they are now JAMMING a 17 week schedule down the throats of both the players and the fans.  Several horrible consequences for the addition of one measly game a season, with the negligible increase in revenue of approximately 7% (one game extra being a little less than 10 percent of the existing 16 game schedule).  Player longevity and safety for one, the impact to all previous yardage/TD/winning records set over 16 game seasons for decades, and probably some playoff seeding implications not considered or realized yet.  

First Thursday night football, with it's terrible game quality.  Then 3 (!) Monday Night games on opening weekend, then Saturday football, then the 9am London game only streamable on YouTube or whatever it was.  You are saturating the market.  People want Sunday, Sunday night and one Monday night game.

Stop screwing with the schedule!

On Howard, yeah if they want to take 4 games fine.  We're still building a roster.  Could be much worse if the charges were not dropped.

A 911 call released this week captured the alleged victim telling dispatchers that it was not the first time such behavior occurred, TMZ reported.

“My fiancée continues to think he can just push me, throw me into the wall without me doing nothing just because of who he is,” the woman says,” the victim said, according to the report.

Howard in 2019 signed the richest contract ever given to a cornerback, totaling $76.5 million over five years. He was supposed to be a major part of the team’s rebuild. However, the Dolphins had subtly backed away from Howard since his arrest, not including him a promotional video released this week that featured many of the team’s best young players.

and he should be.  just because the charges were dropped, it doesn't change the facts that he, as a professional athlete, man-handled a woman.  and apparently this was a regular occurrence.
