Miami at JAX predictions
since the Dolphins play Thursday night, i thought i'd start this thread a day early this week.
based on some high profile departures from Jacksonville this off-season, i assumed the Jags were in tank mode much like Miami last year. well, as it turns out, they ain't that bad so far. they're 1 and 1 in two very close games against opponents far superior to Miami. both their offense and defense rank middle of the pack as opposed to Miami who is near the bottom of the league for both. of course Miami has played even better opponents, but the eyeball test clearly show the Phins' defense just hasn't done anything well at all. it got so bad that JMP was about to fire up the FIRE FLORES bandwagon. i think he's come back off the ledge, but i suspect the keys are still in the ignition.
all of this to say, i think it will be a close game, but the ghost of Tony Boselli (no, he's not dead) taunting Jason Taylor as he backpedals down the field towards the endzone will be in attendance. the Phins have more "scoring" plays, but every poker player knows that 3's never trump 7's and the edge goes to the home team. Miami bites the dust on a late 4th quarter TD in yet another defensive collapse at just the wrong time.
Miami - 19
Jacksonville - 21
but hey, the good news is that if you bought the Phins +2 1/2, they covered!!

*MERGED these two threads
I'll post my thoughts when I can, but merc, you nailed it:
"it got so bad that JMP was about to fire up the FIRE FLORES bandwagon. i think he's come back off the ledge, but i suspect the keys are still in the ignition."
Perfectly stated!

Miami 17 Jags 27. Turnovers and lack of defense are the story of the day. Tua goes in at garbage time and goes 3/5 with a pick on a hail Mary

Re: Miami at JAX thread
The Jags are a strange team...I think their defense should totally suck - but so far, it doesn't. Their offense is pretty good, despite a weak OL. I do like their receivers.
My guess is the Dolphin defense plays much better this time around. Jax is a lesser opponent compared to the Bills and Patriots, and they have a QB that can make as many bad plays as good. I think the Phins' defensive players are embarrassed at how they've played so far and will step up in prime time.
I think the Miami offense can put up some points against Jax, and I see Fitz and Parker having a big game.
In a lot of ways the Jags and Phins are similar. Both have QBs that run hot and cold, both have good but unheralded receiving corps, both have defenses that are, let's just say, not all that great. For that reason, I think it'll be a close one.
In the Battle of Beard vs. Mustache, I'm taking the Beard: 31-24.
That's right: less than a week after I was on the brink of abandoning ship, I think Miami finds a way to win late in a back-and-forth game.

One other prediction: with the Jaguars' starting center out, Christian Wilkins is gonna have himself a 2-sack day.

Agreed. Also there starting WR is also out this game as well. Might be an okay night for Miami.

20 minutes until game time.
Tried to mentally prepare for any outcome I’m sure I’ll still be surprised and emotional.
Go Fins!

I love that Williams is vindicated with TD catch. Package with extra lineman and Howard is great smash mouth short yardage I’m loving it too

Re: Miami at JAX thread
Wow! What a first half! FitzMagic is back, baby!!! What a start! Receivers all looking great, Gaskin looks like a stud, OL getting the job done, Chan Fucking Gailey wheeling and dealing with masterful, creative playcalling...the offense looks fantastic!!!
The defense looks a lot more confident tonight. Still too many big plays given up, but they're hanging in there. Showing a lot of different looks, and even getting a little bit of pressure - including an excellent 4th down sack by Grugier-Hill.
Overall, damn it feels good to be a Dolfan at the moment!

Parker really becoming a great player. Love to see him out there balling even though he is clearly hurt.
