SO...Here's What I Did
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft/
I had three trade offers for the 3rd overall pick. The Lions offered me the 7th pick and their first next year so I said hell yeah and took it. Then I watched in horror as BOTH Devonta Smith AND Jamarr Chase were taken at #5 and 6 So I wound up having to settle for Kyle Pitts.
Then at 17 I got four more trade offers, the best being the Ravens offering me picks 27 and 58, but I rejected them all and took Gregory Rousseau over Najee Harris. Turned out I could've traded down with the Ravens and gotten Harris, who was selected at 29. Oh well. I just felt edge rusher was the bigger need since I know Van Noy is gone and I have a feeling that Aaron Jones will be signed.
What would you guys do?
EDIT: Just tried it a second time. The Lions offered me the exact same trade, and I took it again but this time Smith was available at 7 and I snatched him up At 17 I only got one trade offer, from the Steelers to trade down 7 spots and they'd throw in *next* year's third. I rejected that and took Harris since this time around Rousseau had been taken at 16. Then I watched the Steelers snag Pitts at 24

Re: SO...Here's What I Did
This is fun I did it again and this time in addition to next year's first the Lions offered me pick 88 so of course I took that deal. Smith was still there at 7 so I took him. THEN...not wanting to lose out on Rousseau I traded up from 18 to 16, giving the Giants pick 88 I'd just gotten and pick 208. That might have been a *bit* much to trade up 2 spots but the way I figured it I really only lost the 208th pick since pick 88 wasn't really mine to start out with. And then I took Rousseau.
It's really easy to not notice that you can change it to the full draft though, and it defaults to just the first round every time which is slightly annoying.

Re: SO...Here's What I Did
i rejected all trades and took DeVonta Smith at 3 and then again rejected all trades and took Najee Harris at 18. i was tempted to take Pat Surtain Jr. at 18 in anticipation of moving on from X Howard in a year, but figured i would not act on a hypothetical - and the Phins drafted CB Iggy in the lower first last year.

Re: SO...Here's What I Did
I'd make a trade with the Lions any time for the #7. I am becoming firmly convinced that Smith will still be on the board at 7. Just keep those "too skinny" stories flowing!
The second pick is a much tougher decision. I've certainly been all over Harris. But lately I'm thinking it might be best to go defense there, with either Rousseau or Zaven Collins. I think Rousseau will end up going earlier - possibly much earlier - after his workouts. Collins will almost certainly be there, and he's a great fit for the Phins without all the baggage that Parsons brings. A trade down could also work, and then we can grab Harris or Etienne.
If we do go defense at 18, then I'm going RB with the first second rounder - best back available at that point, which will likely be Harris or Williams.

and yes, i agree that pass rusher is a very pressing need, but i am not overwhelmed by any of the pass rushers in this years draft.

Re: SO...Here's What I Did
This was interesting and a lot of fun!
First off, I traded #3 with SF for picks #12, #43 and next year 1st
I was targeting Sewell, Slater or Pitts at 12 - and I just missed out on Pitts he went 11. So I traded down again:
Trade #12 for GB 29, 62, 2022 2nd and 3rd
18 Rashad Bateman WR
29 Travis Etienne RB
Bengals trade down 36 to 38, plus CIN 2022 3rd
38 Zaven Collins LB
43 Alex Leatherwood OT
50 Rondale Moore WR
62 Javonte Williams RB
Couple of notes: Receivers went 6 Chase, 7 Waddle, Devonta Smith went 12!
Sewell and Slater were the next picks after 3 QBs went 1-2-3 (including SF who traded up to get Fields).
So, I got some beef with an OT and a LB who I think fits our scheme, and ended up doubling down on both WR and RB. Plus, I am LOADED for next season with two first round picks, two second round picks and three third rounders. If the offensive line fails to develop I can grab more linemen, or use those picks to find playmakers.

Re: SO...Here's What I Did
Yeah, I have been running that draft simulator a bunch.
I cannot decide if it is better to go for the next Tyreek Hill, Who I think is Waddle, or trade down and get an extra 1st next year.
I have seen Waddle go as late as 18, but as soon as 4 or 5 too, so...
I think, at this point, the Phins have a few spots where a rookie could make huge contributions, like WR and RB, a talented multi-purpose LB like Owusu-Koramoah or Browning even, plus an Edge Rusher. After that, a rookie is going to have to unseat a starter unless the Phins just name the rookie the starter.
And really, does anyone think 10 or 12 rookies are going to make the Phins roster?
Four or five and maybe a backup or two IMHO.
So I think this year, it is important the Phins go for the IMPACT players. Those first four picks ought to be based on the projected overall impact IMO.
If they can can trade down and get some extra draft loot for next year, AND get the Impact players, I am all for it. But at some point, with a roster full of good starters, extra draft picks are just training camp fodder where you are looking to find a keeper.
As Don Shula always postulated, "Expect one loss for every rookie you have starting."

Re: SO...Here's What I Did
This time I focused on impact players, and made a trade with CAR because I viewed that as the sweet spot: Still in top 10 while picking up the 2022 first round pick. Plus, I doubled down on EDGE instead of WR and RB like earlier:
Trade 3 and 50 to CAR for 8 39 and CAR 2022 1st round pick
At 8, I drafted DeVonta Smith
18 Najee Harris
36 Jaelen Phillips EDGE
39 Jayson Oweh EDGE

Here's how mine shook out. I made a lot of trades, got a couple of Day 2 picks in the process for next year (I'm always looking to load up). Ended up with offensive playmaker help, lots of O-line and front seven help. Unfortunately didn't get secondary addressed:

Re: SO...Here's What I Did
You guys are lucky as hell to be trading down that much and still get the players you want, every time I do it those guys are taken before my next pick. Then again I'm not a big fan of trading down to begin with, if I were Grier there'd be no way I'd trade down out of the top 10 for one thing. Also, don't forget you can trade up as well.
As far as O-linemen I've drafted Creed Humphries, Leatherwood and in one draft I went ahead and took Meinerz at 81. I also had a draft where I skipped over Harris and took mah boi Kenny Gainwell later on

Re: SO...Here's What I Did
I’ve noticed a few tends from these mocks. Seems to be Smith is always third receiver taken.
Many of us have selected guys like Leatherwood, the LB from Tulsa, Smith after trading down a few slots and I’ve seen Javonte Williams a bit also - I drafted him once.
Will be interesting if we see these players actually get drafted for the Fins

What makes me sad is that the real Fins draft isn't going to be anywhere near as good as the ones you guys just did
Anytime you guys want to storm team HQ I'm down, we'll just say we're Antifa members and get away with it.

Re: SO...Here's What I Did
Yeah, if you are just using the same DRAFT RATINGS, you will know when to expect a player to go in the draft.
If you want a real challenge, try one of the other simulators.
https://www.pff.com/draft/nfl-mock-draft-simulator
This one has some very different rankings. But they give you a grade at the end. I think this one has Najee Harris as a late 2nd rounder!!!
The rankings are all over the place as of now. Towards late April, they tend to coalesce as everybody gets a severe case of "groupthink" going on the draft it seems. Teams usually have their own little quirks that either mean good rankings (like the Chiefs) or they mean dingbat drafting (like when the Phins took Charles Harris over TJ Watt)!

Last one and this might be my favorite because I loved all of my first four picks.
Makes me think: Is Pitts the key to this draft? PFF thought it was OK - B- overall.

18 T Rashawn Slater
35 WR Elijah Moore
50 HB Javonte Williams

At that pff site, when you are on the clock, right beside the draft a player button is another one that says trade with other teams. Click on it and then in the drop down below, click on the team and pick what they are offering and what they get from the Phins.
You can control how easy or difficult trades are with those sliders at the beginning.
There's also a pause and offer trade button you can use to try and get a trade with some other team during the draft.

W1 - I really like Elijah Moore. He seems to really have come around after doing the whole lifting leg and peeing on Miss State thing!
DG - You really think the Phins are going to draft 3 WRs?? I think if we get ONE we will be lucky.
There does seem to be some very interesting D Line players that are ranked low right now, but I suspect will be drafted a lot higher. Tyler Shelvin is a beast.
