McCourty and Brown to IR

and these were part of the FA signings that was supposed to make the Phins better.

In Brown’s place, Myles Gaskin ran pretty well.

duh! its been like that all year, but for some reason the Phins' coaches love them some Brown.

This makes the signing of depth piece Sheldrick Redwine from the Panthers practice squad make a bit more sense.

perhaps makes sense, but it still don't fix nothing. too late for that.

I wondered why they signed Redwine. He was a good player in college (Miami Hurricanes!!) but he probably won't play much with the Phins.

Holland had two note worthy plays on Sunday, I like what he's doing out there for the most part.  I'm certain with time his ball-hawk ability will come to the front as he learns the defense and it becomes automatic for him without over thinking it.

First play was a great blitz off the edge.  He took down Ryan very quickly after the snap of the ball - well timed and they caught the Falcons by surprise.

Second play he was a step slow - maybe half a step - or he could have made a play on the ball for a pick.  Instead, he dropped his shoulder and absolutely destroyed Calvin Ridley knocking the ball loose.  Ridley had to take a play off to shake off that hit.

Yes, Holland seems to be coming along nicely. Let's hope he can make some big plays against Buffalo.

In other news, the Phins signed another former Cane to replace Brown: Duke Johnson. I don't know that Duke offers much in the ground game, but he's always been a very good receiver.
